I don’t think there’s really such a thing as a “perfect essay”…Also I think you meant to put 2000 for SAT not 2200.

Your low GPA is gonna hurt your chances at these schools, especially if you can’t raise that SAT to 2100+. It is on an upward trend at least.

Your EC’s are very good. And if your essay and rec’s are as good as you say they are, that will help a lot. You should also show interest by visiting these schools if possible.

Here’s where I see you:
NYU - High reach unless you can bring your SAT and GPA up a bit.
Bucknell - same as NYU
Northeastern - Reach for the same reasons as above, but certainly possible
Rutgers - Pretty close match (im assuming you’re applying to the new brunswick campus)

These all depend on the program you want to study as well. You’ll probably have a better shot at Bucknell and Northeastern as an Education major rather than an Engineering major.

If I were you, I would relax with the EC’s and try to finish out your junior year with as high a GPA as possible. Continue doing well senior year (with AP’s/honors) and send your grades to these schools halfway though. Retake the SAT if possible and shoot for 2100+ or try the ACT.

Good luck.
