NYU and Chicago

I know there are some sites online which tell you the range of ACT scores for colleges, but in order to be very competitive or even give you an advantage, what’s the minimum ACT score needed for NYU and Chicago.

I know to be admitted, it takes more than just scores. I’m just setting a goal for myself.

Thank you!
Any hints, comments, and feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)

If I was setting a goal for myself for those schools, it would be 31-32. A 31-32 would put you in the 75 percentile for those two schools. If course, after that you would depend on your ECs, grades, essays to get you in. But a 31-32 will make you very competitive in their applicant pool. Of course, a higher score is even better, so aim as high as you can reach.

Thanks for the reply. Greatly appreciated! I took three practice tests so far. Got 33, 29, and 33. The first two are from Princeton Review, and the last one is from free ACT preparation packet…in 2006. Are those reasonable estimates for my ability or are those tests not so accurate?

Those are accurate. Especially the one from the free ACT prep packet. That one is probably the most accurate. And congratulations on those scores! They are amazing scores and will make you very competitive for the schools you want to get into. In this thread, I linked to two more tests from prep booklets if you want to try them:

Yeah, I’d say 31-32.

At U of C though, watch out about essays. They mean A LOT there.
