<p>I am planning to major in Biochemistry(BA) at NYU or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology(BS) at DAvis’s College of Biological Sciences. </p>
<p>I want to go to medical school.</p>
<p>I have to pay 30k for Davis which my family can cope with. For NYU, its 37k which would be a stretch and not as comfortable. I would love to live in manhattan but am not willing to pay 7k more (plus 4k Work Study) for. So i just want to know about academics and how will the school help me get into a very good medical school like stanford or ucla…</p>
<p>So the main question is, which one would be a smarter choice based on academics and chances of med school alone? </p>
<p>For med school, the undergraduate school really doesn’t make a difference, especially because NYU and Davis are already similar rank-wise (and if not, Davis will be regarded as one of the UCs, which are all highly respectable). You will be accumulating a huge debt in medical school, so I personally think you should save the extra 7k or so and attend Davis. This is of course assuming you are compatible with Davis’s campus; I just don’t think an extra 30k is worth NYU when the undergrad school really does not matter as much as the grad school for medical. Davis also has a great biological science department. The only thing I would somewhat consider is public vs. private school.</p>
<p>IMO, this is an easy decision. Go with Davis. NYU and Davis are not that far of in prestige or rankings. I bet most kids would be “wowed” for NYU, but if you live in CA, Davis would be just as respected. Davis has an OUTSTANDING Bio Program, and it will give you a very good education for Bio. Save money for Med school and do good at Davis. </p>
<p>aye look it all depends on what you like and all dat, ya feel me? med schools dont really care where you go. i’d say go to davis, bio and pre-med programs are hella good so it wont even matter, like dat maylix said, med school is gonna cost some BANK, so save yo **** and go to davis its hella fun here</p>
