NYU Class of 2019 Discussions ED1

@Bluesky1999‌ Please calm down. If you don’t want to go to Shanghai then decline their offer and begin your applications to other colleges.

If anyone wouldn’t mind could i read their optional supplement essays for NYU: OPTIONAL: Respond here if you want to briefly (75 words maximum) elaborate further on your choice of campus(es). Their campus in New York ofc.

Bluesky1999
Calm down man
Did you contact the admissions office?

Is there an NYUSH thread going on?

I’m a spring transfer from a community college but still INNNN!!!

Did any of you guys get a merit-scholarship?

Lolllll I got a $3k work study and rest in loans. If we accept the offer for the work/study, are we absolutely obligated to work in college? Or can we just not work and as a result, not get the $3k? A little confused. Congrats to everyone accepted!

@ramenforlife did you apply to stern? stern is awful with scholarships I heard… I hope it’s different for CAS… I’m applying EDII (hopefully, if I can get a switch from RD to EDII), and I would just flat out tell them no if I had to pay 63K a year for college + work lol…

Solid recommendations one from my principal a second from my regents us history and the third from my honors language arts teacher

Stellar essay( in my humble opinion)- however ridden with grammatical errors- source of much of my anxiety over my admissions decision.

Wait, when do accepted students get the packet of info?

@ramenforlife that 3K is the max amount of money you can get paid through work study, but you have to work to earn any of it, and you may not earn the full amount depending on how many hours you work

what is work study usually like? like working in the library or helping out the professors as an aide?

@Bluesky1999‌ I got admitted to three NYU schools: CAS, Shanghai, and Poly. Shanghai being my second choice. I notified them during the interview that I actually prefer SH. Needless to say, I still got in all three. I believe the decisions made are independent of each other.

Is the Steinhardt Scholarship renewable each year?

Did NYU make college affordable for you guys or are you guys just paying full price?

@davasboxtheory Does each campus give you separate admission notice?

@davasboxtheory And I think, for Stern, the situation is quite different.
Congrats anyway!
Will you go to Shanghai for your study?

Has anyone received their admit packet in the mail yet?

sorry, but, i’m planning on applying for RD to stern. i’m OOS and i think i have a chance, but the problem is, do i need 3 SAT subject tests or can i just apply with just an ACT score?

@Bluesky1999 Shanghai and NY do not make decisions together. I listed NY as my primary interest and Shanghai as my secondary. I was accepted to both.
