I don’t think they discount writing, but for Economics in CAS or Stern, I think they would primarily take into account your great CR + M scores.

Does anyone know how important the writing section on the ACT is? I hope they don’t discount that

@smnparish Writing as in the essay? I don’t think any colleges really pay attention to the writing portion unless it’s a writing based school. I think colleges usually just look at the composite and occasionally the individual sections minus the writing.

@NYUFan101 yeah, the essay. Not the content of the essay, but the score. I’d be pretty surprised if NYU required the writing portion but didn’t consider it

I’ve actually heard somewhere that the writing is used to check your Common App essay/supplement for authenticity.

As for the score, they do consider it but I don’t think that it is a huge factor.

Did anyone get an FA change today?

Ugh haven’t gotten accepted to that Facebook group yet
And my FA hasn’t changed again since the first change

no change for me but it appears that they are still reviewing applications <a href=“MEET NYU - Home”>MEET NYU - Home;

Wait guys my SAT Reasoning is really low for Stern (720CR, 670M = 1390) because for some reason I couldn’t break 700 in Math BUT on my Math IIs, I scored a 770, 100 points higher.

Do you think that my high Math II score will “balance out” my low Math Reasoning score?

Didn’t they say they are complete with the early 1 applications?? Sigh… I didn’t get the change

@ramenforlife I don’t think I would say it would fully balance it out, but it will definitely show them that you do have the math skills necessary for stern. I think you are safe

Yes, I would assume they are finished reviewing, however, input into the system takes some time…hopefully!

@ramenforlife Well a 670 is in the 88th percentile for the SAT reasoning test and a 770 for Math II is in the 79th percentile so it’d be preferential for them to take into account the 670.

@NYUFan101 can you post an image of the recent FA change? I still have this:

2016
New York University
No self-service access for this aid year.

@jarjarbinks23 I never got it I don’t think. I have 2015 New York University Award Access Not Available. I was wondering if people got the 2016 change today.

wait - is it bad mine says 2016? I have no self service aid as well

@NYUFan101 What exactly does the 2015 change mean? I have it too, but I have no idea what it means. I also know that not everyone has it, which leads me to certain theories, but I will refrain from voicing them out of fear of sounding dumb and nïeve lol

EDIT: I have it and I never attended a summer program or anything, which I know that some people have it left over for such a reason

Last year, for the Class of 2018, the good year to have was 2015 - which I learned after studying forums.
SO for us, I assume it would only make sense for the good year to be 2016, correct?

@xdxaustin Do you have 2015 and not 2016? 2015 New York University Award Access Not Available?

I have a theory - do you think that “No self-service aid” may be for people who applied for financial aid but did not get it because the school felt their family was financially capable enough?
And that “award access not available” means you did get some sort of financial aid?

And that both message mean you got in, you just may or may not have gotten aid? I’m so nervous!
