NYU Class of 2019 Discussions ED1

@NYUFan101‌ @newyorkeratheart‌ I have both of them! http://postimg.org/image/ich335s41/

I don’t think your theory (@newyorkeratheart‌) quite holds true because I know someone in this thread in real life who should definitely get need based aid

My theory is that 2016 is need based aid and 2015 is merit based aid, but I really hesitate on saying that because we all know how reluctant NYU is to give out merit. However, I also know that the popular belief that you must be in the top 5% of their applicant pool is also false because I have a relative of mine who currently attends NYU, with less than stellar stats, who got a decent chunk of merit

@newyorkeratheart I guarantee you I won’t receive financial aid as I never applied for it. I think it is just a place holder until they release decisions and financial aid awards.

Yea i dont understand the 2015 vs 2016 thing.

After all the CC’ers who are accepted are going to be attending at 2015, not 2016…

@newyorkeratheart that’s what i would tend to believe, as I got the former message and didn’t apply for aid. Also, yes, 2016 is the year you’d like to see - that’s the change. I think you get 2015 even if you haven’t done a camp, as that year is in reference to any aid you may need for submitting your app (a theory I just came up with though).

As for them being finished reviewing apps, wouldn’t they not wait to release the decisions if that were the case? I’m sure they’re done with some applicants, but I think they look over others multiple times if they’re not sure whether or not to admit - they just narrow down the pool first

Wait so there’s two different types of tables? Some people are getting 2015 and others 2016?

@smnparish yeah, i got “no self service” and i’m positive that there’s no way i would get aid. i really just applied for the possibility of getting merit. reading old forums, i see something that people with the FA change were able to see they nyu email in their globesmart account which can be accessed thru nyu home. anyone know anything about this?

@Jarjarbinks23‌ everything in Albert is usually one year ahead, at least according to my cousin who goes there

@xim0204‌ from what I’ve been hearing, you can get one of either, or both (I got both) http://postimg.org/image/ich335s41/

@jarjarbinks23 I know, it doesn’t really make sense. But the accepted Class of 2018 had a 2015 year in their FA change, so I assume 2016 is the good year for us

And @aoeu123 could we still use that fb group you made, because the other group is taking forever to join… And also it can be for ED 1 only!

@xdxdaustin when did you get it?

@xim0204‌ I got both changes on Thanksgiving. The 2016 came first, and then a few hours later 2015 popped up.

is it bad i only have the 2016 change??? ahhh

I’m going to figure this out. My friend who was with me at the NYU summer program is not applying for admission. I will see if she has 2015 or just 2014, as I have 2014 and 2015. If she just has 2014, then we know 2015 means something.

@xim0204 Some people have the row with the year being 2015. I don’t know how many have it though. I was able to see it immediately after I submitted my application, as I did a summer camp (so I also have a row for 2014). So I don’t think the 2015 row means anything as far as determining whether or not you’ve been accepted.

@newyorkeratheart I’m pretty sure the globesmart thing has been debunked - everyone’s account says it’s made on the day they first try to access it. I wouldn’t really trust any other theories besides the FA change one, otherwise i’m sure we’d know about them by now.

these conspiracy theories are stressing me out because i know overall, they’re true
but the details of them are so unclear

@xdxdaustin I think it’s weird that you got it on Thanksgiving because I wouldn’t think admissions would be open.

@newyorkeratheart I’m trying not to get stressed! Hey, ten more days!!!

@xim0204 ugh me too! i know there was nothing on my application that was against me you know. everyone was prime. but I’m SOOOO nervous. I think I’d be more confident about getting into Oxford than I am about nyu, probably bc i want to get in so bad

And yes guys, the Facebook Group that @aoeu123 posted yesterday is open for 2019 applicants, WHICH IS US. I am also an admin on the page, so if you want an invite to the page, PM either myself or aoeu123 the email address you use for Facebook and we will invite you.

Yeah no matter what I do or have done, the doubt surrounding this waiting period is driving me crazy haha

@newyorkeratheart Yeah, me too… It’s been a roller coaster! Sometimes I feel so sure and others I’m like nope, not getting in. I hope we both get in  In ten days we’ll know! We just need to hold on!
