I know this may sound spoiled, but one of my biggest concerns about NYU is their dorms. Considering the fact that the school is in New York and real estate is extremely expensive there, I have this fear that the dorms are, essentially, closets. I want a relaxed environment to study…one with carpeting, maybe even a window. Does anyone know about this? Any pictures?

There have been several discussions here on housing. Do a search and I’m sure you’ll find them. One note, though, unless you were accepted E.D., you won’t get to specify a dorm, only whether you want traditional or apartment style.

You can choose a roommate if you both specify it on the housing form. Housing is co-ed, room by room. In other words, one room guys, next room girls, and so on. Next year there’s a pilot program where individual rooms are co-ed, guy and girl in same room, but that’s not for freshmen and only by request.
