********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

Also has NYU released how many ED applicants they had this year?

Is there any ED1applicants from NY who submitted CSS profile has not received FA change yet? Just try to confirm the regional theory.

@jhirn2020 No. I highly doubt decision will be released early based on trends in years past and communications with admissions department this year. If you think about it there is no benefit to earlier admissions decisions on their end. They have a really short turn around time when considering ED applicants so it makes sense they take as much time as they can (especially for such a large institution, so many specific schools, and even applicants who’s auditions have to be reviewed and considered).

so, I am an international student (but US citizen), I didn’t apply to FA or CSS, I haven’t checked the FA page that often but it says “Award access not available” Are we now assuming that this points to a rejection? i know that all theories are unproven, but what is the current consensus on the FA matter?

@crownvic Hi there, im also an international student. i think they review your application by region/country you are applying from rather than your nationality so i wouldn’t worry if I were you since by the looks of it no international students have received any FA changes (yet?). good luck

@mishlll im not even applying for FA. Im guessing that “award access not available” is there because I am not applying for any form of aid

@crownvic same, I didn’t apply FA and I still have award access unavailable: i don’t think the theory applies to us

@crownvic in the past years ppl who didnt apply for FA also got the change but no one this yr who didnt apply got the change (yet?). I also didnt apply for any aid and no change :frowning:

I wouldn’t rule the FA change out yet for people who didn’t apply for finical aid. If we don’t see changes by Friday then it won’t look so good for the theory anymore.

12 days everyone - how y’all holding up ?

exciting times…

A few pages ago, someone, @Crzcorgi I believe, said that the change happens some times in the night for him.

Maybe it’s automatic? Or once after midnight?

This is driving us all crazy.

I was probably mistaken^

I meant to say that I checked at night and that’s when I saw the change.

By the way, I a friend who’s a fr in college. he did NOT get the FA change but got in, however he did NOT apply for FA.

Another said she did NOT get the FA change, got rejected, and she did apply for aid.

Another said he did get the change, got accepted, and did apply for aid.

They are all domestic applicants

*So it seems that if you apply for aid via the CSS, then the FA change theory should hold true. If you do not apply for FA, you probably won’t get the change I guess regardless? And idk about internationals

how many more people from your schools are applying to nyu ed1?

@crownvic No clue. On Naviance it reports 20 (of 364 students in my Senior class). However, that number includes everyone who intends to apply to NYU, not just ED1 but also ED2 and RD.

I go to a small school but I know I was the only one who applied ED.

It’s weird: from my school (2008-2015), the RD admissions rate is 32%, but 77% for ED. There are 4 other students from my grade applying to ED, so…

from 2008-2015 the acceptance rate for my school on naviance is 48% overall but for ED it’s 3/13…i dont know if its a glitch in the system or its actually like this… :((( panicking :((

For my school the RD acceptance is 54%, whereas ED is 69%.

Also, EDs average stats are 210 SAT points lower, as well as .29 weighted GPA lower than those of RD

yeah that about the statistics for my school. I think the acceptance rate is so high for ED because NYU values diversity, and i go to an international school
