********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

I applied to the college of arts and sciences @sftos1

Guys check out the NYU Housing Application (quick)

They’ve just updated the application and the Fall 2016 application is available. Check what your status says under the application, mine says “Brooklyn Freshman”. (I’m applying to Tandon, which is the only NYU school in Brooklyn)

I have a friend who is now at Tandon says that last year “Brooklyn Freshman” is a hint of admission, whereas “non-renewable undergraduate” is a hint of rejection. Again I’m not entirely sure, and I don’t know what it says on other NYU schools (Manhattan Freshman I assume?) But please guys check it out and post what it says.

“Applying for : academic year 2016-2017 freshman” anyone else Pls post

@NyuEdPls On first glance I thought your GPA was weak for CAS, but considering you go to one of the most competitive schools in California I’m sure you’ll be fine. How many APs did you take? Out of how many offered? NYU also recalculates weighted GPA, so if I had your unweighted GPA out of 4 or 100 I would be able to chance you more accurately. Your SAT score is great - anything above 2200 for CAS is definitely game. Solid SAT 2’s as well! Impressive. Your testing seems to back up your claim that your school is very competitive and your GPA was not simply a result of laziness or whatever else. I’m not sure what your definition of “Good ECs” is, but if your ECs have a central theme and aren’t flying all over the place, you’re set. As an Indian male, affirmative action isn’t going to work in your favor but your stats make up for it. You have great chances, hope to see you at NYU next year!

@tandon2020 Disclaimer: I’m not familiar with Tandon so take this chance with a grain of salt! 3.2 UW is low throughout the university and an SAT of 1910 is definitely not the most competitive I’ve seen, but NYU reviews holistically so let’s keep chancing here. All honors is honestly pretty standard for a school like NYU, I see you took 4 APs but only 1 will be on your transcript. Not a great sign, but NYU reviews you in the context of your school, how many APs does your school offer? What did you get on the AP tests? Now your ECs are really something else. They’re fantastic and extremely concentrated. The fact that you wrote your essays about them also plays up that fact. Awesome. Perfect attendance isn’t that stunning of an award though, so don’t expect it to get you any props. Overall I think you have a decent chance at Tandon. Your stats besides your recs, ECs, and essays are relatively weak. But then again I’m not sure how much weight Tandon puts on scores, so keep your head up anyways!!! Best wishes!

honestly there’s no point of chancing now. nyu will chance you soon.
