********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

Applied: Steinhardt
Domestic/International: International but have been living in the states for years
Region: East Coast
FA Change: didn’t catch any of the waves (unsure)
On or off campus?: On campus
Freshman or non-renewable housing change: Freshman

Applied to: Tisch
Domestic / International: Domestic
Region: West Coast
FA Change; if yes, still have it?: I think so, but not anymore
On / Off campus: on campus
Freshman / Non-renewable housing: Non-renewable

My theory is that NYU is updating/already has updated all of the EDI accepted student’s accounts to the “Freshman” status, and that the non-renewable status is just the default status that all their accounts are automatically set to since it has to do with undergraduates (not first-year students) not meeting housing requirements yet (payments w/e).
Also when I walked through the application, they didn’t offer any of the Freshman dorms in the housing preference tab so it seems clear there’s been no change made to match my profile as a first-year student. There should be a status for “Pending First Year/Transfer Applicants” to keep this confusion from happening, but since we aren’t really supposed to be filling out the Housing Application yet, accommodating for that would be kind of counter-productive.

So if you, like me, have that non-renewable status I suppose we can expect to be rejected or waitlisted unless they’re still updating accounts.

I’m also quite certain that I was rejected. Back when I first submitted my app, everyday, I would check the analytics on the video submission I sent in as part of the Tisch portfolio to see if a view from New York would pop up. I stopped checking around mid-November because I got a demographic from an “Unknown U.S. Region” that watched the whole 10 minutes of my submission, so I assumed that was from them. But I checked again today and saw that view was gone from the analytics so I think it must have just been a bot or something. Anyways how could they accept me if they didn’t even view my creative submission.

Omg while I seriously think the housing change might be a good thing, someone reported rejection even though he or she got the housing change according to @Crzcorgi
:(( :(( :((

just lost that slice of hope

As almost everyone here got the housing change as “Freshman”… I highly doubt that the housing change means anything now… Geeze

@ayli9784 I feel lik the kids who are like constantly on this site will have a higher percentage get in. Plus there were a bunch of people who were saying non-renewable like 2 hours ago but i think a lot of them stopped responding. Maybe thats just me trying to convince my self the housing thing matters tho because I got freshman

@ayli9784 I think it means something because some people got the housing for a certain place

A lot of people reported non-renewable earlier on in the thread.

@mdrd44 yeah that’s what I thought especially people got the housing for a certain place pertain to where they applied to. But that friend who still got rejected even though he or she got the housing change throws me off. :((

@NyuEdPls haha to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of the active ones on CC all get accepted. Yeah that’s right some might just stopped responding. I’m also trying to convince myself that the housing change actually matters but that friend got rejected thing after receiving housing change makes me nervous again. :frowning:

To be quite honest, I’m not worried about that person. He/she has shown to be an outlier if we’re looking at the statistical data of “freshmen housing”-acceptance correlation. Plus, we can’t talk to that friend directly, so who knows? We don’t really have solid proof other than a he said she said kind of thing, so just try to wait it out for a while longer  @ayli9784

Hey guys I just wanted to add some general comments that really calmed me down at times of distress. Believe in the fact that everything works out in the end, and you will attend where you’re supposed to be attending and you will thrive no matter what. Keep your heads held high regardless of the outcome and use this as an opportunity to test the limits of your resilience, work, and diligence. Best of luck to everyone and no matter what happens we will always be ok in the end.
