@nyuclassof2023 well yeah cause like it’s binding haha what about you?
@girlidk If you got deferred (your email says deferred) then you may apply for ED II or RD in the form they send you. If you got rejected, then tough luck! Unfortunately they don’t allow you to apply for ED II or RD. You can still apply next year as a transfer though.
@shinybell i mean i’m not sure i can pay for it
@nyuclassof2023 ohhh i see what you mean yeah im going for sure i can pay for it well my parents can. i hope you do too!!
You can turn down a binding ED for financial reasons, it’s totally legit and acceptable. @girlidk if you got into your 2nd choice location you did NOT get into your first choice location so reapplying ED2, even if it’s possible, won’t do you any good because NYC already didn’t accept you before Shanghai considered you. @aves2023 - for RD studio assignments came out a couple of weeks after acceptances.
For those who got accepted by Stern, do you guys mind sharing your stats here?
Is there a difference between deferred and waitlisted?
@Oneiota Waitlisted means you got accepted, but are put on a queue of sorts. If NYU has extra spots then they will let you in from the waitlist. Sometimes they accept lots of people, sometimes they don’t accept anyone from the waitlist. It depends on the year. There isn’t really much you can do to change this status (so don’t bother with extra stuff). On the bright side, the wait list is usually small, so that means you are “special” enough to not get denied. They see something in you.
Deferred means you were not accepted, but on the bright side, you are not denied. Less than 5% were deferred this year, so this also means you are “special” enough to not get denied. Should your mid year grades be quite good, or ED II/RD be poor compared to ED I, then you would have a shot at getting in.
Both are filled with qualified applicants. They don’t waitlist or defer you if you aren’t qualified. However I don’t know why they would waitlist as opposed to defer an applicant, or vice versa.
@DOGEATER9000 I got accepted to my second choice, NYUSH, so that’s why I was asking if it’s possible for me to apply to the NYC campus for EDII or RD
@CaMom13 I also thought the same thing, but I saw that NYUSH is even more competitive, it has a 3% acceptance rate. There’s also something like this on my acceptance letter:
“The admissions committee took note of the fact that you requested consideration for more than one program or campus within NYU’s global network. They concluded that NYU Shanghai is the part of NYU for which you are best matched, the place within the university to which you should be admitted.”
I thought that they might have thought I was a better fit for another campus just because I’m a US citizen-International student and I lived in 3 different countries throughout high school, so they might have accepted me to NYUSH because of my multicultural background and international experiences?
I just want to know if there’s any chance of me applying to the NYC campus for EDII or RD, if I did that, do you guys know what I would have to do on the common app since there’s already an application submitted there?

I’d be interested to know if anyone put NYUSH or NYUAD as second choice and got an offer for first choice NYU in NYC.
@girlidk you can’t reapply once accepted. Especially not in the same admissions season. I hope you have some financial issues or otherwise you can’t drop your commitment to NYUSH.
if i got waitlisted should i email them why im still interested and thank them? or is that hurting my chances?
@ayeitztasha if NYUSH was listed as second choice then ED is not binding. However decisions to accept or refuse still have to be made by 3 Jan.
@lolgirl123 Take a look at this https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-to-apply/wait-list-faq.html I assume it was sent, but just in case, here you go.
One of the questions is “How can I show NYU that I am interested?”, with the answer: “You can relay your level of interest in NYU by way of our Waitlist Response Form online, when it becomes available (likely a few weeks after you indicate your interest in remaining on the waitlist). There you will have the opportunity to express your interest level in NYU.”
im kindof emo, I really thought I had it. Seeing everyone get into their ed schools is hard. is there any hope of getting off the waitlist?
anyone apply for the nursing program or know any stats about it?
