NYU ED Class of 2023

SJ2727 I was accepted to NYC (first choice) but put both SH and AD as my second/third choices.

Sure thing! For Stern, I had
3.7 UW GPA, 4.1 W at a very competitive HS
No rank
1530 SAT
35(.25) ACT
TERRIBLE subject tests, (like 30th percentile terrible)

EC’s
Captain of football team, 3 year varsity starter, 2 years all-conference
300+ Volunteering hours for Athletes for Kids, (Mentoring a kid with a mental disability)
Chem Club 2 years
Huge investor in bitcoin and ethereum (rip  )
Babysitting
Piano for 10 years, Art Lessons for 4

Great rec letters from close teachers,
Spent 1 week on essay MAYBE, could have been better but honestly pretty solid

Congrats to everyone who got into Stern class of 2023!

congrats to all who got in and best of luck to waitlist!

do you guys think that withdrawing my financial aid application would help me get off the waitlist? i never needed aid, i thought it was required, so would that be a possible push to get me in? idk im stuck.

@lolgirl123 NYU is need-blind. This wouldn’t do anything. They’re stingy (NYC is super expensive), but not THAT stingy.

what did you guys write for you ‘why nyu?’ essay

i wrote about wanting to work at the lgbt center, and including me founding the day of silence at my school. then i wrote a paragraph about tisch and the drama studio id want to be in and listed some specific classes id want to take. i got accepted with this!

I wrote about wanting to be a polymath and how i see different fields contributing to my career choice (urban design). I then connected this to my love for social justice and how i would basically make a difference on campus as an activist. Got me into Gallatin woooooooo

@swamatl will you not be attending next fall then?

Guys could yall just pray for me I cant afford this and im calling tmr morning to make my final plea

@mikeythescammer that’s honestly an awful thing to do. I got waitlisted to stern with a 33 ACT, a 4.5 GPA, and a ton of business EC’s. I hope they verify your ethnicity, find out your lying, and blackball every other school you applied to.

I applied for ED 2 so I hear from NYU in Febuary and seeing how competitive this first round has been I’m super nervous lol. But going thru you guys’ stats I know that literally everyone in this thread is so talented and deserving of attending NYU. At the end of the day, they just have to make hard decisions. I wish everyone the best!

I applied for NYU ED and got deferred to ED2. Any tips on what I should do?

@lolgirl123 , I can’t remember (sorry) what you were interested in doing. Boston U and Fordham I think are often seen as “similar” to NYU, one for the big urban similar ranking aspect, one for large and in NYC. And no, withdrawing financial aid option won’t matter.

@nickystarblue - they want to see that you know enough about NYU to specifically relate what NYU offers to what you want to do, and they want to know how you in turn will contribute to life at NYU. Make it personal and make it authentic.

hey guys i’m planning to apply ED 2 for NYU and was just wondering for the Why NYU essay, if I put NYC as my primary choice of campus followed by NYU Shanghai, should I be mentioning my interests in both campuses in my essay? A 400 words essay is a little limited! :-?
