NYU essays

App says I’m limited to 850 words to each of the categories but there are a bunch. How long should I make each one? Or is the 850 word thing for flexibility?

The online app. provides a word limit for every short essay. Looking at the html code behind the page, it appears they actually do truncate exceeding words. I’d try to stay within the limit…

Good luck with your application!

BUUUT if I look at the print preview and it is not truncated… don’t colleges get the same version as my print preview?

Hmm… Yeah, I’m pretty sure they do see exactly what’s in the print preview. Maybe I’m confusing it with another application- but they definitely see whatever is in the print preview. Anyways, go for it … or just try to make your answer more concise (?)

I think it’s 850 characters, not words.

True- I just repeated what you initially said. I don’t even think it would be possible for them to count your words- there’d be too much formatting code necessary

It’s not words – 850 characters which means letters, punctuation and spaces. This message has 108 characters.
