NYU (ETW) vs BU BFA Acting

I know my post was long, but I did not address some questions you sent me in a PM. But yes, the program at ETW is VERY collaborative in nature. My D was constantly being cast in or helping with fellow students’ projects and casting them in her projects.

In terms of performance opportunities, most of her friends, including herself, did perform in some capacity, throughout college. There are a plethora of performance opportunities at Tisch. Not everyone gets cast in a MainStage production, but there are studio productions for just that studio’s own students, student run productions and more. Even when my D wrote her original musical for her ETW “Independent Project,” she wrote herself one of the lead parts! Even now professionally, one of the musicals she is commissioned to write, has a part for herself in it. She believes in creating your own work and not just waiting to be cast, though she is also cast by casting agents in the real world too!

You asked about the non-studio days…those two days are for academic classes, but at Tisch, half those academic classes are actually in Theater Studies and with Tisch students. My D enjoyed these classes. She also had private voice lessons on those days too, and rehearsals and prep on those days and evenings and so she was involved in theater related stuff 7 days per week. It is not all that different than at other BFA programs that simply mix the training classes in studio with the academic classes on the same days. The hours are simply grouped differently.

Hope that helps answer some additional questions you sent.
