I’m a current NYC student at a CUNY in my 2nd semester in my first year of college. Had a 96 GPA throughout HS and I ended my first semester with a 4.0 with classes such as Calc 1 / Programming with Python, and I am currently taking classes such as Calc 2 / Chem 2 and ending the semester with 31 credits. I have some ECs such as Harvard’s CS50EDX program, founded 2 computer science-related clubs at my school, and I’m doing some CompSci certificates currently. I believe my essay is pretty good, and I have 3 recommendations submitted in total. Even though I have this all done, I am still unsure about my acceptance, considering NYU is a tough school to get into, so I was wondering what are my realistic chances from non-biased people on here. I have a couple of extracurriculars I’ve taken in HS such as chess, couple of clubs, some algebra 2 tutoring, received multiple principals award. In terms of college, I got into the dean’s list first semester, have a couple of coding projects. Sadly, my school doesn’t offer a lot of comp sci related extracurriculars, so that’s why I opened clubs. I’m participating in a Microsoft sponsored Hackathon in the coming months outside of my school though. I do believe my essay is strong though, spent 4-5 months on it, a lot of revision. When it comes to LOR, I asked my friend who goes to NYU Stern for a letter since he knows me for years, and I had a 30 minute chat with my calc teacher so he can know what to include for my LOR, and my teacher from high school who knows me very well definitely described in a positive light. How are my chances at CS at CAS?
I applied to NYU Rory Meyers a couple months back. Today I woke up and saw that my “update my materials” box is complete gone. Do anyone know if that’s signs my decision will be coming out soon ?
