NYU Hopefuls 2015

ED to CAS (for Journalism and possibly History)
CR 710 M 630 W 740
GPA 4.33

I’m obsessed with getting into NYU to the point where it’s probably not even healthy. Must. Get. In. I honestly can’t see myself being happy at any other school.

@hannahorenstein, you’re not alone.

Hey guys! Need essay help!
Any tips on who do you want to meet past or present? Should it be a business person if your applying to Stern? Should it reflect your acad interests? Or is it ok to just creative and have fun with your ‘person’? ideas?? anyone?

Be creative, at least that’s the vibe I got when I visited there. I did someone probably a little out there and while it may relect my academic interests a little, that wasn’t my intention when writing it.

the best advice I can give you. Coming from a freshman. You need to know this school is for you. Honestly. You make think it is, but its not your typical college

I just submitted the Common App. for early decision and now I just have to deal with my Tisch film portfolio.

My stats:
GPA = 3.83 unweighted (probably 4.2 weighted)
SAT = 2140 (800 CR, 700 W, 640 M)
ECs = two internships, president of two school clubs (for a very short time)

I hope I have a chance!

gahhh, we find out by email! i dont know why that freaks me out so much but it does.

Does anyone know what time acceptance/rejection emails go out? If I check my email right after midnight on December 15, will the email be there? Or do they go out at random times throughout the day?

… Yes, I WILL be that girl who refreshes her email every minute from 12:00 A.M. to 11:59 P.M. waiting for my purple NYU email.

omigosshhh me too!
i already have a countdown going down, i just wish it would be here already!

we find out by e-mail this year?! what happened to paper mail?!

Last time I checked, paper mail was still the way decisions go out! Where did you hear about the e-mail decisions??

Just submitted Common App yesterday. Already freaking out.
ED to College of Nursing
3.8 UW GPA, 4.0 W
2010 SAT
Extremely random extracurricular’s that are pretty region/culture specific

Good luck everyone!

Just applied ED a couple days ago to Tisch Film…

These are my stats:

Unweighted gpa: 3.4

  • 5 advanced/ap/honors classes
  • i don’t know my weighted, my school does not weigh but it’s probably somewhere around a 3.6 ish.
    -SAT: 1750, taking Nov but im not sure if they accept this
    -ACT: 26
    -Quite a bit of ECs and involvement with film festivals and cinemas, etc.
    Portfolio: six page dramatic scene.
    -good essays
    -nice recommendations

So yeah everyone stop freaking out because i’m the underdog here! We’ll see how it goes…hopefully i will get in. I’ll keep this updated…

In the email with the pin number they tell you that the admissions decision comes in email this year.

Your general admissions decision will come via email now, while (if accepted) your entire acceptance packet will come physically in a huge purple monstrosity with your aid summary, acceptance notification on university letterhead, and an introduction to your program with orientation information.

I’d recommend that you all really familiarize yourselves with this school before you come here, because I did not at all and my freshman year was fairly miserable. This year is infinitely better because I’m making so, so much more of it, but if you aren’t prepared (or think you are and aren’t), it won’t go well.

Applied ED Stern. So nervous lol.

2130 sat (750 CR, 730 Math, 650 writ), 3.89 gpa, top 10%, 8 aps are academic stats. Did not apply for financial aid.

Kinda nervous, I sent two bad subject tests (660 math 1 and 650 bio-e) along with 790 us hist, cause I didn’t know it would hurt me. Any ideas on whether that would hurt me a lot?

For those who have ED’ed and applied for FA, how long did it take for you to get the FA app?

I got my FA form in 2 days.

When do ED decisions come out?

Good luck ED’ers! I’m applying RD, even though NYU is quite a reach with my SATs and ECs… gonna work hard on my supplements :)
