I’m just waiting for apps to come out.

ughh me tooo… are you guys going to use the common app or the actual NYU app?

I see that tons of you 2015ers are freaking out. Word of advice, don’t stress so much when you’re doing college apps, it may seem impossible and scary right now, but when you look back in hindsight you’ll realize there’s not much of your app you can really affect at this point. Just chilllax and enjoy your summer, whatever happens happens.

And if it helps 95% of the people I knew personally from my school that applied to NYU last year got in exactly where they wanted, ED and RD.

@steffc973: i was really thinking about that… Do you guys think there may be any benefits in using NYU’s app?

glad to see I’m not alone with my thinking. I’ve looked at the NYU app from last year it allowed the applicant to show more of there personality with it’s questions, so I’m leaning towards the NYU app.

I was thinking of doing the NYU app as well. I think I’m leaning towards doing that versus the common app :)

@newyorkdreamer- Early Decision?

The nyu app is the one through embark right?

@Steffc973 Yup! To Steinhardt, hopefully! :)

@newyorkdreamer- yay! welcome to the club lol

@csokane- yes

=D its good to feel im not alone!

So, when does the embark app comes out?

I wish I knew lennin =\

I wish they would give us the essay topics like UChicago

I’m thinking about using the embark app, but does it have an advantage over the common app?

This is just one case, but my son used the Common App and his application was pulled out from amongst the tens of thousands of applications to be considered for one of the most selective merit scholarships at NYU. He was selected for the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship with $25,000 per year for 4 years, contingent upon his maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5.

So I believe you just have to have a strong all around application and well written essays (one for Common App will do plus the shorter NYU specific essays requested in the NYU supplement).

Oops! CC sent this a second time, sorry for the duplicate post.

^So you think it doesn’t matter whether I use the common application or the nyu application?
I’m visiting next week, I’m so excited.

Im visiting July 9th =))))))) Im super excited even though I’ve seen the campus multiple times when I’m in Soho and that area

theresaax2, My personal opinion is they obviously do not discriminate between the two applications (Common vs. NYU’s), based on the outcome for my son.

As I said, just make sure you present a strong picture of yourself regardless of the application used. Your personal essay should be well written and be thoughtful about answers specific to questions asked by NYU. Also, your record is what it is at this time. Just make sure you highlight your strengths, whatever they may be, ECs, scores, GPA, vision, motivations, commitments, dedication to causes/ activities, etc.

That all being said, can NYU CCer have a look at my chance please. appreciate
