NYU Hopefuls 2015

^I was in that situation too. My mom’s pushing for state school (UVA), which is a great school but I’m not interested in it too much. Its more a safety, i guess.
Financial aid is a big thing for me. NYU’s aid is crappy but many students just look at the loans and say well, im screwed. There are toooooooooooons of outside scholarships locally and national out there.

I’m applying EA to RU just to know that I can get into my safety and I think I’m going to apply RD to NYU. I just need to know the financial aid package before I go there, and if I apply ED, there’s pretty much no way I can get out.

Hey im ED CAS too  which standardized testing scores are you guys sending? Will i be at an disadvantage if i send subjects test(3) scores instead of Sat1 scores? and you should i re-take Maths IIc if i got a 740? its pretty average…
I was planning on ED stern but mathsIIC is pretty average … Im planning on taking literature maths 1c and maths IIC

dont take double maths. DON’T

hey…why? do they not accept it? and wat about my maths IIc should i re-take it?

Ur Maths II is fine for CAS, but dont waste ur time taking maths I
Lit and Math II are fine for NYU, but please dont take Maths I, because it is redundant and overlap. adcom may not want it.

hey… according to their new standardized testing policy…i can either submit act or sat reasoning test or they need 3 subject tests… one math or science … one literature us hist or world hist and one any other non language test. thats why i thought of maths IIc lit and maths 1 as the non language test… im not submitting my sat reasoning scores… my super score is only 1970 :(

If you are doing three subject tests, you need to submit three different subjects.

Hey guys, I know I’m super late on this whole thread, but I’m an NYU 2015 hopeful too and just wanted to get in on knowing my possible future classmates :)

I’m applying ED for CAS and want to double major in journalism and international relations. Anyone else want to share? :)

Am I the only one suffering to fit the supplement’s short answers in 500 characters?

Haha, @lennin, definitely not. I think I’ve rewritten mine three times each already just trying to find the perfect wording to fit all of the info I want into that tiny space. I’m still not satisfied, I know I got a lot of rewrites ahead of me…

I wrote one essay that I really liked, before I found out about the character limit. Its like 350 words, so obviously more than 500 characters. I don’t want to cut it!

^ same thing! I though i’ve written the perfect answer until I find out it didn’t fit…

do you guys know when we can send the supplement?
Like, if I finish it this week can I send it already?

Yeah, you can send it whenever it’s ready, but a lot of the things I’ve read suggest that you just do it and save it now and wait to submit it until closer to the deadline in case circumstances or whatever change that would allow you to give a better answer.

Yeah, I hate the 500 character limit! So annoying…I’m applying CAS RD and putting predentistry so I’m not sure what that means…biology I guess…although I want to do psychology but maybe as a minor. I cannot decide what to put for the supplement questions…well one in particular. I change it every time I log into commonapp.com

^^ good point… but at the same time I just want to send everything so I can stop thinking about it 24/7 and cuz I just feel like sending really early will show them I want to go to NYU so badly…
I guess I’ll wait til mid-september

Actually, one kid from my school submitted his application to NYU in on the night commonapp opened their applications and the New York Times did an article on it - they interviewed the dean of admissions and he said that there’s really no point to sending in your application early as far as indicating your interest is concerned because they won’t even open the applications til mid-October anyway…

here’s the link if you’re interested: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/11/education/11application.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=pflugerville&st=cse

^ heey that was really interesting, thanks for sharing! Do you know this kid?

Kind of just throwing this out there, but is anyone else applying to Steinhardt ED? I originally said Gallatin because I was unsure of what I wanted but had an idea. Now I know exactly what I want to study, and that’s early childhood & special education. Anyone else?
