I expected I had a chance for acceptance but, knew full well $$ would be an issue and didn’t expect much so, NYU was low on my list.

What is most irksome and speaks of incompetence is that I have received no decision. Not by email or snailmail.
My application status still shows waiting for HS transcript despite my dad calling 6 weeks ago and being assured it was received but, would take time to show on the online status section.

Under F/A, it shows “no financial aid” so, I’ll take that as a subtle hint I was rejected

Don’t give up hope! You haven’t received a decision yet. Just wait for the email and once you receive acceptance, then worry about the financial aid. It probably shows ‘no financial aid’ because it perhaps hasn’t been determined yet, so default right now is none.

Nope. It depends on the school you are applying to. For example, I believe Gallatin’s deadline was April 1st and now they’re starting to review. I know for the SCPS the deadline isn’t until August because they practice rolling admissions. Check your school’s deadline date.

I believe I applied to CAS but, don’t remember since I applied to about 8 different schools. It was worth a shot but, I’ve already submitted my deposit to Binghamton. I really like NYU but, didn’t expect NYU to offer me enough $$ to offset the value of Binghamton.

maybe you were waitlisted…this year, nyu’s acceptance rate was rather low and only accepted about 5,000 kids from over 42,000 applicants. give them a break. if you didn’t get a letter, then you were MOST LIKELY not accepted. but if you already sent in your deposit to bing, then voila. problem vanished.

How about a school that does nothing to hide the fact it’s for the ultra affluent and wealthy despite having an endowment over $2.5 billion.
Those who need F/A need not apply. I have an email from their president saying, Yeah, we turn away many due to financial need.
It would be quite interesting to compare accepted students of those who don’t request F/A vs those who do. I’m sure that data is a closely guarded secret. Or maybe not, since they don’t seem to give a rats patoot!

I think he was simply talking about the “nyu’s loss not mine”. What you just posted was not what he was saying was “arrogant”. A lot of really qualified people are rejected simply due to space restrictions.

NYU seems to have a class size of over 5,000 so they certainly had to accept more than that number of students since many who are accepted to NYU choose other schools for various reasons.
