Do you guys know if there is any legacy advantage of benefits at NYU? Thanks.
How will you pay for over $70,000 a year NYU? The school does not guarantee to meet full need and they don’t.
These are fine stats…what do you think legacy status will gain you?
You’re completely right, I was just checking. I’m thinking about taking it off my list entirely as it is highly unlikely that I will get the cost down. What do you think the minimum cost I could get it to? 1510 SAT, 4.0 GPA, 7 APs, my father went, income is in 80-110 range, and I have one sibling in range. There’s basically no chance I get it below 20 right?
NYU’s common data set indicates that they “consider” alumni relationship but it’s not an important criteria. Cost is probably more of an issue.
Here’s the website’s info on aid - average scholarship for students who get aid is 37K - but that average may be misleadingly high for a middle income family as it folds in larger grants for the 20% of students who qualify for Pell Grants (which => very low family income).

You might want to run the EFC calculator - it could help you decide whether NYU is totally off the list.
My advice is to take NYU off of your list. Given what you have been telling us, this school will not be affordable…at all.
Thank you guys
