NYU Liberal Studies to College of Nursing?

I applied to NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences to major in Political Science under Early Decision II and was recently admitted to its Liberal Studies Program. I wanted to become a lawyer before but now have decided to become a nurse (I became interested in this career after volunteering at a hospital). Is it possible for me to enroll in the College of Nursing (it is one of the best in the nation) after I complete the 2 required years in the Liberal Studies program?

It appears that you are guaranteed into CAS after two years in the LSP. However, transfer to another NYU school like the School of Nursing is uncertain and depends on the School of Nursing’s policies. This particular school is not mentioned as possible transfer for LSP students after the two years. I advise you to consult with an Admissions officer or an Advisement counselor at the LSP as soon as possible before you commit yourself to LSP. You can request to be transferred to any of the NYU Schools with LIBERAL ARTS programs and the School of Nursing is not included in this list of schools. Here is a link with info from NYU’s website, [NYU > A & S > Frequently Asked Questions](http://ls.nyu.edu/page/faq)

“Can I enroll in any NYU school after Liberal Studies?
A student admitted to Liberal Studies has a guaranteed opportunity to enroll as juniors in NYU’s liberal arts bachelor’s programs: the College of Arts and Science, the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, or the Global Liberal Studies Program. Students may also transition into specific liberal arts programs housed within other NYU schools and colleges such as the Tisch School of the Arts and the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. In order to transition seamlessly between programs, students must meet specific program requirements and be in good academic standing at the end of sophomore year. At NYU, good academic standing typically is defined as a minimum 2.0 GPA…”

So your planned transfer appears to be non-traditional for a LSP student. Now, I do not know if this is absolutely off-limits. For clarity on this, you really need to talk to NYU Admissions or the LSP directly.

Thank you! I really appreciate it.
