NYU LS Core vs BU COM

I got into [NYU] Liberal studies core spring start, and I just got off the waitlist for BU Com also spring start

No financial aid from either but money is not something my parents want me to consider nor is it an issue- so I just want to pick the best choice for me and my future success.

I am from southern California and am excited to try living in a city on the east coast, (although I will miss the good weather and beaches here…)

I’m not 100% sure what I want to major in. I think it would be cool to make doumentaries for a living because I love journalism and film. At the same time, being financially secure is important to me and NYU’s LS Core gives me the flexibility to transition to business or a more lucrative major if I change my mind. And BU COM seems to have a lot of general courses related to journalism and film, not sure about the flexibility to switch majors, but I know it is renowned for its communications course.

My preferences for college are thus: mid size, (ideally good weather at least sometimes- which ik is tough at both), cool people (I have been told I give [nyu] student vibe/would blend in there). Not interested in greek life, good intramural sport opportunities, fun things to do, good teachers, academic. Small class sizes, and I again, really want to have fun and cool things to do.

I have toured both schools and actually did a 3 week program at BU over the summer. To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with BU’s campus and I was in the warren tower dorms which I think are the worst ones so that’s probably why. However, both schools are similar with the integrated campuses and being in the heart of a city.

I’m also so excited to have gotten into both of these schools! Please let me know what you think.

BUComm matches your interests best.
NYU CGS will push major-related courses bto after 2 years and if you’re not 100% certain what you want to study, the ability to take a bunch of different classes to see what you’d like is important whereas being in a fixed program would be quite detrimental.
(Also, CGS->Stern is basically impossible because CGS doesn’t offer the right pre-reqs).

That being said, if you have a less expensive Fall start, it may be better for you - making documentary films means you’ll be working a minimum wage job on the side so you don’t want loans and if your parents can save money and help you after college it’d be even better.
