I have had a really hard time deciding where I want to go next year. For all of those currently in LSP:

1) Do you find the classes difficult?
2) Are you able to try different subjects to decide what you want to major in?
3) Do you enjoy the courses?
4) How hard is it to achieve a 3.65? - I really want to get into the IR Honors program

Wouldn’t the classes be easier because it’s LSP?

Not necessarily. Students can’t choose classes and they HAVE to study old world stuff like the Quran and Bahava gita

Hi Maroon5,
Good luck with your decision! My daughter (HS class of’ 08) transferred out of LSP with a 3.9 GPA. She didn’t feel that LSP classes were difficult at all. Some classes required a lot of papers, which could be nervewracking.

She enjoyed LSP but is very happy to be in CAS. In answer to #2, I don’t believe she took any electives other than required LSP electives. She knew what her intended major was when she applied to NYU.

Her final choices were GWU and LSP. She chose NYU because she thought it was a better fit for her and definitely feels she made the right decision.

This is a bit ironic because I am choosing between GW and NYU LSP too. How does she feel about studying the actual scripture of texts? It seems a bit daunting!

Hopefully a current LSP student will chime in here. The curriculum has changed a bit since the 08’ - 09 year. While I purchased a number of books for D’s 3 semesters, (including the New Oxford Annot. Bible and some Homerian texts), I don’t recall anything about the Quran and Bahava gita.

Personally I wouldn’t sweat it. I’m sure you’ll do fine. If you look closely at the LSP webpage, I’m sure there are opportunities to take some electives.
