I love music but I don’t see how I could make a career out of it so I have decided to also take pre med classes because I love the idea of being a doctor and I love science. Also NYU is my dream school.

Can I major in music technology at NYU steinhardt while also taking pre med classes. Would that look okay when applying to med school. I love music and I play guitar but I don’t want to play classical music. I enjoy playing classic rock and the blues. I want to increase my musical knowledge and take music theory classes while having guitar as my main instrument.
Would Gallatin make the most sense so I could combine my love of music with my love of science?

NYU is my dream university but If anyone knows of any other school that would accommodate what I’m looking for I would appreciate it a lot! Thank you.

Can you? Yes. However, you may have to apply for special permission to go over the credit limit for classes outside of Steinhardt, and you may have to take summer classes if there is not enough space in your fall/spring schedule. In this case, Gallatin would not be a good fit, because in Gallatin you need to bring ideas together as a cohesive whole, and it sounds like you want to do music and science separately, rather than “the science of music” or something like that
