NYU Precollege 2013

Hello CC!
I just got accepted to precollege at NYU. I enrolled myself into the computer science courses.
Can I ask a recommendation from my professor? I tried to Google this and I found out that some colleges give it along with the transcript. But NYU doesn’t. And I read a lot of examples of transcripts to graduate schools or internships. But nothing related to precollege. If I get the letter, I would turn in the letter to them again. (NYU is my top choice)

How do I ask my professor for a recommendation letter? I mean I just can’t go right at him and ask him right? I want him to know me as a person but how do I do that? I think I should visit him during office hours but I really don’t know what to talk about. How do I get friendly with him and not just brag about things I know? Can someone suggest me topics to start off with?

Additional Info - 1) My professor takes both of my classes, they’re back to back.
2) He’s into theater.
3) He teaches iOS programming and it’s a sell out.

Thank you!

I think you should wait before you take the call to ask for a LoR from the Professor. Once you have attended his classes, see how it goes, how approachable he is, if you have really enjoyed your time spent in these classes, how productive the whole experience is and then go from there. So I am sure requesting for a LoR should not be an issue, but be patient and get through the class experience first.
