anyone know when rd decisions will or might come out? hopefully before 4/1?
@iamnotaaron No one will know until Admissions notifies if the date will be before April 1. Yes, in the past it has been before April 1, March 28 or so.
@iamnotaaron i’m guessing around the 28th
@purplecattt what is GLS at nyu? I mean, if u are rejected to ur first choice, u may have higher chancs to LS OR GLS?

Confirmed that decisions release on March 28
@WhoKnows2023 This has been addressed on this thread several times - the link is from last year as March 28 this year is not Wed but Thurs
Well from what ive heard NYU tends to release on Ivy Day so i wouldnt be surprised if its on the 28th again
@WhoKnows2023 Let’s hope so!!
Guys what is GLS program? Higher chances to be admitted there?
How much weight does NYU place on essays? I don’t have fantastic stats compared to the other students who applied, but I did something really creative with the “Why NYU?” question and I think my other essays were pretty good as well. I guess to summarize what I’m asking here is is NYU the type of school that is more specifically stats-based or are they more apt to forgive certain shortcomings if something else makes up for it, if that makes any sense?
(For reference, I’m a 3.5 UW, 1380 SAT, and applied for a journalism major)
@nitronicala My friend was accepted to NYU Tisch last year for acting with a 1390 SAT and a pretty low GPA (I’m pretty sure he got some Cs in addition to Bs). He was waitlisted at first. I’m not sure if Tisch is different (cares more about talent than scores), but I say there’s always a chance!
@LincolnsGF @nitronicala My D applied at Tisch- it is 50/50 talent and academics for the acceptance there and test scores are optional. Our understanding is that overall NYU takes a holistic approach but I am sure stats matter to a specific extent on the academic side.
@Tgd200 GLS is easier than Stern which iirc you listed as first choice? I’m just not sure how a stern focused essay (which presumably you did) would be viewed if it comes down to looking at GLS as an alternate.
@nitronicala , my daughter got accepted ED with a 30 ACT and 3.5uw/3.7w GPA so I can only assume essay and teacher rec were what moved the needle for her (I did think her “why NYU” essay in particular was fabulous). She got into her second choice, LSP, but it provides a pathway to get exactly where she wants to major (politics or IR CAS) so she was still thrilled.
@SJ2727 Stern was my first choice and GLS my second. As I can remember, I wrote one essay about Why NYU?..Do you think i can be admitted to GLS?
I have no way to answer that - i don’t know anything about your essays, I just assumed that for a stern applicant the “why NYU” essay would have at least some focus on Stern and related opportunities (which is quite different from GLS).
NYU does review holistically BUT remember that not all 3.7s (or whatever GPApeople talk about) are viewed equally. Much depends on the rigor iof your classes, how your high school is viewed ( for example, MAssachusetts has the best secondary education in the country), and whether you’ve done anything really well fir a long time whether it be s sport or service or unique activity.
Which NYU school is better for computer science? Tandem Engineering or other school? How easy to switch from one school to other? If we find out if one school is better than other, can we change it now or is it too late?
Any advice is appreciated.
It is too late to switch schools. They may have already made final decisions on majority applicants.
@parent2001 , if accepted to one and your child discovers he/she prefers another school, they can apply for a transfer at the end of freshman year.
