The vast majority of NYU aid is need based but there is merit too. MLK considerations are merit and then topped up with need if necessary according to the description.

Extremely involved with theatre and music in my community, honestly I’m not sure how I got accepted but I’m so thankful I was. NYU was not even in my considerations because I was certain I’d get rejected, I’m still in complete shock

Essays: I wrote my common app in code, and I think my why NYU essay was really good - about how I want to be an astronaut.
Letters of Recc: My engineering teacher from last year who knew me very well, and my AP Bio teacher who taught me for three years.
Hooks: I’ve taken three years of engineering classes, been part of four major biomedical engineering projects, visited the school and went to all their local events to demonstrate interest.
NYU has been my dream school for years so I’m extremely excited! However, I got no financial aid so I doubt I can actually go.

Hey current stern freshman here and wanted to wish everyone congratulations on acceptances today. If you are on the fence of whether to attend or not I would recommend coming to the weekend on the square if your finances allow. It helped me make my decision and a great way to see the dorms in person to help you choose.
