We may not be able to take our Clive Davis spot due to cost - so - maybe. We’ll decide in the next week or two. Maybe that would open a spot?
did anyone from india receive their nyu admission packages yet? i haven’t
Does anyone know the admissions rate for the NYU College of Arts and Sciences for the Class of 2023?
The admissions office had indicated the New York campus admission rate was 16%, down from 35% in 2013. Seee https://www.nyu.edu/about/news-publications/news/2019/march/Class_of_2023_Admits.html (“In addition to being the most diverse group of students to whom NYU has offered admission, the Class of 2023 is also the most selective to be admitted to the New York campus—16% percent of applicants were offered admission, down from 35% as recently as 2013—and had the highest median SAT score: 1480.”}.
I heard informally (via text message from an admitted student on a revisit) that the admissions rate to CAS was 9%, which would be a quite remarkable increase in selectivity in a short period of time. In a 2011 thread, the admissions rate for CAS was cited as 24%. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1204646-how-competitive-is-it-to-get-into-nyu-cas.html
I would appreciate any perspectives.
@Britmom5 thank you for the kind thought but does it work that way? My daughter is under the impression that there are an equal number of seats for boys and girls. I’m not sure if that’s correct. It’s super stressful since this is her #1 choice. She’s devastated that she can’t participate in the admitted students weekend. we have no idea how many kids were even wait listed for Clive Davis
@KSB1734 I went to the CAS session during Weekend on the Square today and the Dean of CAS did tell us the acceptance rate was 9% this year, which is insane! I don’t think that number is anywhere online from what I’ve seen though. This is also the most ethnically diverse class in history with no ethnic majority! Crazy stuff!!
There are 60 seats total for Clive Davis. It’s a very small program. 8 for transfers and 52 divided evenly between boys and girls. I know at least 5 came from ED. I have no idea how many are waitlisted. The admissions office say they could’ve waitlisted as many as 40 kids but wouldn’t give us a number.

When we went for a visit last summer - i thought they said at least 1/3 came from ED. Maybe i’m wrong
@Britmom5 yeah that sounds right. when I toured Clive in the fall, they said they try to take an equal amount of applicants from each pool (ED, EDII, and RD). They also said each pool is roughly the same, in terms of the number of applicants.
Has anyone got any idea how many kids were waitlisted to Clive this year and what the chances are if actually getting off of the waitlist?
@Iridescence I am from India and got full Ride scholarship for the NYUAD campus. Received my acceptance package around two weeks ago. The admitted students reception was organized last Saturday
Hey guys, Does NYU send an email after you have confirmed enrollment? Like a welcome msg or something?
Has anyone heard any updates about the waitlist moving?
@actinghopeful20 no. the admissions office said that the wait list won’t be decided until after 5/1. we’re waiting too
