***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

@Nimisha99 Yeah don’t do anything with the email. And I wish :frowning: we don’t know if this has a correlation with acceptance because they didn’t send this last year (i think). If you know someone or people who you are pretty sure would be rejected from NYU, then you can ask them if they got the email. If they didn’t, then we can infer that perhaps the email does correlate with acceptance.

D got the same email today regarding if you had been accepted early decision somewhere. It is my understanding you only click on the link to inform them if you were accepted early decision to a different school. If not, there is no need to respond. We decided not to read anything into this other than NYU trying to determine which students had accepted ED offers to other schools.

@Rav115 Yep.

@firetofire Nah that’s a very good observation. There really is no logical point to send someone the email if they are getting rejected, especially as it might give them false hope. Only possible reason I could think why they would send that to everyone, including the rejects, is if they want conformity and don’t want to give out any hints on who got accepted or not. However, that would be a lot of extra trouble for them, especially since a lot of the rejects definitely got into ED somewhere. Just too much extra work.
But then again we’re not admissions officers, so maybe they have other reasons. I think if you can find people who you are pretty sure who will be rejected and if they didn’t get any email then perhaps the email might indicate admission. :slight_smile:

Question- for those who got the email, was the color of ‘click here’ purple? Bc im pretty sure i didnt click it but on my computer when u click links the link becomes purple.

@SamE123 Mine was purple too. I thought I clicked it and I started panicking

Did anyone click on the ‘click here’ by accident?

@SamE123 @tuesday2 Yup I think everyone’s is purple. Probably because its NYU’s color.

@SamE123 Idk but I’m pretty sure they have precautions against accidental clicks as in additional questions in order to submit.

Wait, I think we’ve received two different versions because the email I’ve received is not about whether I wish to withdraw my application or not… That’s why some of us are not seeing the option to remain a candidate for NYU this year. Could you copy and paste the email here if yours asks if you’d like to withdraw your application?

Yes, there was a questionnaire with “I DO wish to withdraw” or “I do NOT wish to withdraw” I assume this is their precaution against an accidental click.

@Rav115 agreed

Did NYU send this letter out last year? Checked cc and can’t seem to find this letter mentioned in posts for the past couple of years…

I did not recieve this email at all should I be worried?

Got the email too, hopefully it means that I got in

@jpgautlier You’re after that scholarship right? I wouldn’t worry if I were you because perhaps they checked you out early for the scholarship. Since you got into Stanford I don’t think you have anything to worry about for NYU.

@meggysmom No. I think that this is the first time they’ve sent out the email.

But there’s two different versions of the email. One clearly stated to not reply or “reiterate interest” if the student still wishes to be considered. Yet at least three people on here received an email that had two separate options: click either yes or no to still be considered. That seems odd.

The “click either yes” is not on the email. It’s on the page that you click for on the email.

I think those people actually clicked the link in the email and they might have received those options after clicking it. Maybe. I don’t know for sure. @kibbles
