***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

@bronstein What main page are you talking about? Nothing on my page says “Summer 2017” – My main page “home.nyu.edu”

@collegesplzz I would probably go if I got in, as Stern is the only business school I applied to.
@cgb2017 Did you log in and everything? You should see Summer 2017 and a picture underneath.

Since long ago (maybe 2 years) we, NYU applicants have been obsessed with firstly the FA change, then the house changes. As the FA change has been fixed, house change has been proven to be the only indicator of NYU acceptance up till this point. In the recent ED2 thread, we spend probably over 80 pages to discuss this mysterious theory that arouses us so highly that we freak out merely because of the change to “FRESHMAN”!

In order to offer some perspective to future applicants who care about their potential acceptance before the inform date, also based on the assumption that NYU officials won’t fix this boon indicator of a surprising nature, i would like to produce a brief chronicle of the house change that happened in our case of 2020 EDII.

The earliest report of house change happened in Jan. 21st.
Presumably, on the following days up till Feb. 6/7, people keep receiving house changes.
On Feb.8th, most of the housing status are modified.
On Feb. 15th morning, everybody who got in official received the real housing changes.

Alright, then. Let me elaborate a bit:
There are 4 types of “changes” (including the “no change”) that have been reported

  1. Showing non-renewable undergraduate for both FALL and SRPING. (no change)
  2. Showing Freshman in NYC for both FALL and SPRING.
  3. Showing Freshman in Tandon for only FALL
  4. Showing Freshman in NYC for only FALL

As far as people reported, these are all the reports i observed. Meanwhile i don’t make any assumption that there are other cases that have different appearance in housing status. So if you have different status, you are welcome to report.

Based on the statistics and results

  1. All possibilities (rejected, deferred, accepted)
  2. Rejected
  3. Accepted to Tandon
  4. Accepted (either first or second choice)

These are all the implications based our experience of 2020 EDII. I wonder if there are other situations existing. If there is, there is then.

CC is truly a source of anxiety! But i am so delighted that we can share/enhance each other’s anxiety in such a short period. I hope that everyone can get the best results that they deserve! Wish you guys best of luck!

Please note that: this reflection is only a sketch work based on my own experience and date collections on cc. It may not be accurate at all. But we have already experienced the accuracy of this indicator, which indicates that at least up till 2020 ed2 the house change means something. The only purpose of this thread is to offer maybe the slightest perspective on this prevalent theory floating around cc for a while.

End.

Please do read this and have a look at your housing application. Not saying any of it is true, it just worked last year for us.

@Garyguy909 the housing portal is different this time. Most people have the Summer option, which to my knowledge wasn’t/didn’t apply to what you are trying to say

on the topic, has anyone had theirs changed to Freshmen when you go into the application?

I can’t access the housing portal, my computer won’t let me go to housing.nyu.edu … any suggestions?

@foodnetwork put “https://” in front of the url

@elisefawkes Not that I know of. The past few years it only changed to Freshman for some people like the day of email decisions.

@foodnetwork Also you could try mobile. I had and have the same problem as you on computer. But when I go on mobile (LTE not wifi), it works.

@figgie13 that worked! thanks :slight_smile:

So what if your portal only has Summer 2017 (NYU New York, D. C. or London)?

@si9443322 a lot of people have this, it probably doesn’t mean anything. Some think that the addition of Academic Year is happening by state, so yours might come up, but otherwise it might not change until acceptances are released

Sorry for the stupid question, where can housing information be accessed?

@jjrrdd Don’t say that, no question is stupid
https://housing.nyu.edu

is it weird that the housing portal won’t even load at all for me???

nevermind it worked haha

the “Https://” worked for me too – says Summer 2017

@collegesplzz NYU would be great. But the cost is insane. Would definitely need some sort of aid.

@mariamiranda7 You have posted three different profiles of yourself on this site. I advise other posters to disregard her, as she is clearly an illegitimate poster.
