@dillonbh20 Don’t worry the vast majority of people who get accepted into Stern don’t start their own businesses. None of the 3 people who already got into Stern ED in my school and the people who went to Stern last year did anything major or startups.
My resume basically included captain of two clubs, tennis team + taekwondo, volunteering, two jobs, and some awards nothing super major though. My worst part is my GPA. But that is made up by my SAT score and my grades, including midyear-report are on a huge upward trend. I just did really bad freshman year
I guess also my sister went to NYU Stern and was on the Dean’s list? Idk how much sibling alumni really helps though.
If you want the specifics feel free to ask
@Pugslife Same here.
do you guys think they’ve made all their decisions by now
how badly do you think a downward trend in my grades for senior year would affect my chances
@zampani obviously it is not good. But its better for us to have an idea of what happened. What was it coming into senior year vs what is it now? Are you taking difficult classes?
@zampani I would say its ok won’t hurt your application too much. Downward trends senior year are very common. Just don’t get too many C’s.
@crunge17 i generally have a downward trend from freshman through senior year, junior year i took 4 ap classes and had extreme difficulty in chem due to extrenuating circumstances with a teacher (who was demoted this year) which left my GPA at a 3.3. This year I’m taking 3 aps. I think this occurred because of my struggles with mental health issues, however when i asked my college advisor whether I should express that on my application he said no.
@zampani Yeah I agree with your counselor its almost never good to talk about mental health issues. Also which school in NYU are you applying for?
I think if you conveyed those struggles on your NYU application your chances will improve. Good Luck! @zampani
@Rav115 i applied gls with social cultural analysis at CAS as my second option. I was deferred to RD from ED 2. that’s why I think my mid year report is going to play a big role, though i I also submitted two new, stellar rec letters specific to NYU from my senior year teachers. From my school, according to Naviance, there is a 40% acceptance rate to NYU. So far I think 5/6 students have been accepted ED and about 80 students apply every year. If the trend continues, around 25 more students should be admitted, so it’s keeping me hopeful.
@zampani Yup I think you have an good chance then
good luck!
On my housing portal the induction tab is gone.
@Pugslife Same
@exheni I got the same email. I have no idea if everyone got it, but I assumed I recieved it because I was deferred from ED I. Were you deferred by any chance?
Does anyone know what day the results were released last year? I’m trying to avoid going on college confidential so much because it gives me hella anxiety, and I’m just wondering if I should expect it before April 1 or on the day.
@matico17 Sorry buddy. I only applied in the regular run. I had a friend who claimed that she did not have it. I can’t be totally sure. I am quite confused or maybe it’s just a generic email. Five denials today. Really hope could get into nyu.
@matico17 they released decisions on March 31 last year.
@matico17 I got the email as well and I applied regular decision
@exheni @jcolestan guess they must’ve sent them to everyone then? Idk I’m trying not to read too much into stuff like that and the housing portal shit bc i really don’t think it means anything.
@jcolestan sorry which email are you referring to? the one for ed or another one?
