***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

@jon2021 Wow I think you have a very good chance for Stern :slight_smile: Solid all around

@camwow Stern only I believe

@geminii I hope they don’t LOL There are so many people better than me scorewise applying to Stern. Like people who already got accepted into Ivy’s .

@getaclucy ahh i see, how do you know this has happened to both past rejects and admits?

@qwerty715 people from past admission cycles and ED have stated the same thing on previous cc threads (that they have been contacted by the financial aid office) and some of those people have ended up being rejected and some have been accepted.

@getaclucy i see, thank you!

hey guys sorry i seem to be delving too deep/thinking too much about my one question, but im super anxious like everyone else here, so I have another q!

the financial aid info request I got seemed kind of different? I got both call and email. And it wasn’t that I was missing information/forms. I applied for a ncp waiver, and for one of the supporting letters it was written by my attorney. The caller from nyu said it couldn’t be from an attorney and had to be from someone else. I also had a deadline(they gave me ~3 days), to get the required forms in. I think I may be reading too much into it, but it seems like they actually read my fa application/not a generic call/email just because I had missing forms. Does that mean my application is actually in the fa office?

@qwerty715 none of the people on this website work in the financial aid office so it’s impossible to know at this point exactly why they need this information from you. You can take it as whatever sign you want to but that doesn’t mean that it’s an indication of anything. I only say this so that if you don’t get admitted you haven’t gotten your hopes up. You definitely need to try to not read so much into it and just wait for the official admission results. The only things to do now are to submit whatever information the financial aid office has asked for and to wait the less than two weeks until decisions go out. Good luck!

@getaclucy yah you’re right! thank you for your realistic words :slight_smile:

For decisions, is it a letter in the mail the day of April 1st or a portal update at a specific time?

@tobers36 it will be a portal update at a certain time or an email. You will only receive mail if you are admitted. You’ll likely get an email the last few days of March that will give you more information on exactly when and how to receive your admission decision.

Could anyone chance me at LSP at NYU? My first choice is CAS, but I’ve been rejected almost everywhere that I feel like I won’t get into CAS.

I received honor roll every year in high school.

an admissions officer said i could stop by the welcome center and touch base with which ever admissions officer was working that day, do you think it’s too late to go?

@zampani it wouldn’t hurt you to go regardless

@zampani I also don’t think it would hurt to stop by if they invited you. I vaguely remember you being deferred from ED, am I remembering correctly? Did you submit SATs or ACTs to NYU? I was deferred and had submitted SATs which was the stated reason for most deferrals by the dean of admissions (SATs and NYU wanting a larger comparison group). Emails I got from NYU said to only send updated test scores and mid-year grades so I sent updates for both. Guess we’ll find out soon. I wish you lots of luck.

Hey guys! NYU is test-optional, but do they hold it against you if you don’t submit any of your test scores(SAT/ACT)? Does that decrease your chances?

@bestfreshstart no, not according to NYU and most of the people who have been discussing that question here on this website

Just to be clear, NYU is not text optional, it’s test flexible. You have to submit some form of standardized testing. They say they don’t weight any of their accepted testing differently. If, for example, you submit AP exams or IB exam instead of SAT or ACT they don’t hold it against you.

I feel like NYU Tandon is not really popular even though engineering is usually the most popular in any schools? Does it have anything to do with the fact Tandon just merged with NYU? I’m just wondering cuz I see so many people applying for CAS or tisch but not tandon

@nyuhope17 yes i was deferred. I submitted my ACT and the old SAT, so i’m not sure why i was deferred lol
