***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

@collegesplzz idk it’s what the Common App let me do, and I’m pretty sure in the paragraph above it said as many as you like. Two were for similar types of majors and one was for Art History. I thought it was odd though that I could put more than one and none of them could be ranked. Like they have no idea which one I’d prefer.

@CathJR idk it’s probably exclusive for people who applied to Tisch

no, I got the option to choose as many as i’d like as well

Now I kind of wish I also chose an alternate on my app, I just applied to Stern, oh well just praying to get in

Since Im psycho and stalked college confidential NYU stuff back to 2010… In the past they have done sort of “likely letter,” aka letters that say “hey youre invited to this accepted students event” (so basically acceptance letter just no the entire package and such, which you would receive the 1st of April). In 2010, the letters (both email and formal letter form?) came anywhere from March 19th-25th, for the event which was scheduled on April 10th. This year, the Accepted Students Event is scheduled for April 16th, so my guess, given a similar time line, they would send invitations out for that event sometime this week, potentially around Friday. However please no one hold me to this, Im just guesstimating. Other than that, I think well just have to wait for April 1st, or a few days earlier give or take, but thats it. Im sure admissions is super cautious of sending any red flags to people so all the housing changes are just conspiracy bs unfortunately and seems like everyone has about the same housing portal. My best advice is stop stressing the most you can because all we can do is wait, itll be here before we know it. BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE!!!

@Ruby99 Where do I go check? What should I do after I log into Albert?

@apcollege16 Hmm do you know if they did this for every year?

hi guys just wondering since there are so many theories going around that have seem to be proven false, is being in the financial aid office rn the only true indication of admission?

@apcollege16 @Rav115 last year they sent the weekend on the square applications the day after they sent out acceptances. I wouldn’t count on any sort of invitation as an early indication of admission. You’re not gonna know anything for certain until the admissions decisions are officially sent out.

So basically they might sent out the likely letters and they might not before acceptances
And does anyone know whether or not April 16 is their only day for accepted students? I might not be available on that date.

The website says the admitted student event is April 22-23
https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/admitted-students.html

This is from NYU’s Admitted Students website: “Weekend on the Square & Day on the Square
This year, Weekend on the Square (our signature event for admitted students) will take place on April 22nd and 23rd. Details about this event, and other events for admitted students, will be released in mid-March. Keep an eye on your email!”
https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/admitted-students.html

I’m unsure if this is from last year though!

Oh! Also, how much does it matter if someone else from your school also applied to NYU? When I went to the information session, I briefly remember the guy say that they compare your application to anyone else from your school a lot. I’m hoping this isn’t the case since the only other person that applied to NYU from my school is my valedictorian

Did they send out MLK Scholar notifications yet?

@Rav115 Weekend on the Square (which is their big admitted student event) takes place on April 22 & 23 this year. There are also various admitted student events in cities around the US and World. There is typically a scholars weekend earlier in April but unless you have been accepted to one of the scholar programs (notifications for that have already gone out) you are not invited to that event.

Can you guys chance me… I’ve been getting rejected from colleges left right and center and i really want to get into NYU.

@applefreak665 You’re a pretty average applicant in terms of test score and GPA, but you have some pretty good extracurriculars and it definitely helps you’re a national merit scholar. It’ll definitely depend a lot on how good your essays are and what your recs are like. It really could go either way. You seem like a pretty good applicant but there are so many random factors in admissions so you really never know. On the bright side you’ll find out in less that 2 weeks so you don’t have to wait much longer.

Yeah again, Im not counting on anything, Im just saying thats the most likely true indicator of early acceptance since theyve done it a lot in the past… Just kind of shooting down all the other housing portal bs and putting out some more actually probable hope hahahaha

@qwerty715 being in the financial aid office right now doesn’t necessarily mean anything. If what you mean is that more financial aid information has been requested, that has happened in the past to people who have ended up being rejected as well as those who have been accepted. Likely they have a computer program that tells them if any financial aid information is missing from any applicants (accepted or otherwise) and emails/phone calls go out to everyone who more info is needed from. I wouldn’t read too much into it as it doesn’t mean anything other than you left out some necessarily financial info.

Chance me for Stern?

GPA:4.4 Weighted/3.89 Unweighted
Rank:12/450
ACT: 32 (33 E, 31 R, 32 M, 34 S)

Have taken most rigorous curriculum
12 APs:
9th grade: ap human geo
10th grade: ap calc ab, ap physics I/II, ap chemistry
11th grade: ap calc bc, ap biology, ap lang
12th grade: ap statistics, ap enviro, ap computer science a, ap literature, ap economics

Recommendations: 9/10 (Really good counselor recommendation)
Ec’s: Very strong in my opinion (Various leadership positions, volunteer every week)

I have already received admission to Ross at UMich as a pre admit and Olin at WashU St. Louis.

Stern is still one of my top choices due to its proximity (being in New York) and its finance is one of the best.

@jon2021 you seem like a very strong candidate. what schools did you apply to at nyu?
