***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

@CYN112 NYU doesn’t superscore ACT, but your GPA kind of balances that out. Four EC’s is decent but doesn’t make you look outstanding. I am also from Georgia. Do you mind me asking what school you go to?

I attend a large competitive public high school in north Atlanta—South Forsyth High. Did you also apply NYU?

@CYN112 Yes, I did apply to NYU. I am from Northview, and I am also Asian.

@CYN112 NYU does superscore. Taken directly from their website:

If you’ve taken the SAT more than once, you can select which results you want to send to us using Score Choice. We will review the highest SAT scores you submit, regardless of test dates. This practice is commonly known as the “superscore.” If you submit scores from the old and new versions of the SAT, however, we will not create a new “superscore” as the old SAT is a different test from the new SAT.

And wow it seems so many people on this website are Asian, as I am also asian :slight_smile:

They do not superscore ACT

@philosphists123 @CYN112 quality over quantity.

@Rav115 if you look under that, it says they do not superscore the ACT…

@camwow not always true though.

I go this on their website for ACT:
“For the ACT, we focus our evaluation on the composite score of your individual subject score results (with or without the writing test)”.
Does that mean they superscore ACT?

I also have a 1950 on the old SAT. Is that more competitive than 28 ACT?

@CYN112 They focus on the “composite” score which is the score you get each time you take the ACT. NYU does not superscore the ACT. If I were you, I would’ve submitted your SAT score.

@CYN112 no they do not superscore ACT, your SAT is more competitive than your ACT. 28 ACT is around 1900 SAT.

@collegesplzz Ohh whoops my bad I assumed that since they superscored SAT they would superscore ACT :-?

i just got rejected from BC, BU, and northeastern and waitlisted at university of richmond…is it safe to say that i’m basically going to be rejected from nyu?

@Rav115 I was thinking the same thing. Why would they only superscore SAT and not the ACT?? Kind of odd

I’m kinda confused. They will consider individual subject scores, but will only focus on one composite score. Does that seem contradicted? How does that make sense?

Can you guys chance me please??? 1370 sat, many ap classes, 4.53 weighted gpa, class rank approx. 4/240, many extracarriculars, lots of leadership, decent essay, good recommendations. Do I have a good chance?

@camwow Well have you gotten accepted anywhere yet?

@ktf1117 Assuming you arent applying to Stern or Tisch or a hard to get into NYU program, I think you have a really good chance :slight_smile:
