hey everybody! I’ve got a question: how do we print our flight itierary from the email they sent out? when i go to the “print recipt” link I connect to the EGENCIA website where I have absolutely no idea what to do next/ how to log in. I hardly think a screen shot of my email will suffice for the visa…

@cheetle yes, you are responsible for attaining the visa. NYU supplies the sponsor letter as well as the itinerary and instructions on how to obtain it.

@rstandsforroxy I printed out the itinerary sent in the email- it has all the information any itinerary would have!

Hey to everyone who went on the orientation trip already how does the shanghai campus look? Do we have any building that are NYUSH and not the chinese university? What should we expect when visiting (what to bring, what you did). How are the dorms? Lastly, what did you love/ not hate but thought was okay? Thanks! I’m super excited to go and can’t wait to hear back from you guys about the trip

Has anyone received their official invitation for the April 5th-8th trip yet?

I still haven’t received my itinerary because I had passport issues, and I’m getting pretty nervous about whether or not I’m going to be able to get my Visa in time, since I’ll need to be using a company to get it for me.

hey guys, new to this website but decided to join so i could talk to you all about the trip! i am from NJ and was accepted to NYUSH, and have rsvped for the shanghai trip. is there a fb group? who else on this thread is going to shanghai for the candidates weekend?

Hey guys! Yeah, Ill get the pictures up just as soon as I take a VERY long nap and finish all this Calculus work that I have to do before going back to school tomorrow

But to clear up some questions about the campus, the first year we will be on the campus of ECNU (East China Normal University) and they are completely renovating a building on campus for specifically NYUSH’s use. We will be staying in the International Dorms #2 on the campus there (you can find pictures on NYU’s study away Shanghai website). It looks like some have private bathrooms, although the rooms themselves are pretty small.

In Fall of 2014 we will be moving to new dorms that have been renovated from Apartments in Pudong which will also have private bathrooms. The dorms are about a mile, or a 15 minute walk, away from the academic building which is off of Century Ave. There will be a shuttle however that is NYU-run that will take students from the dorms to the academic building and vice versa. The Academic Building is brand new, and is still being constructed. However they have the shell made, and are working on the inside now (Ill get the photos soon sorry!). Actually, a very exciting part are the many lounge areas in this 15 story building which NYUSH is leaving up for the students of the inagural class to submit design ideas.

The campus of ECNU is really lovely, they call it the Garden Campus because of all the plants. If you visit, you will love it :D

Hey guys I’m going to the April trip to SH too but they’re taking long to give me my travel itinerary and I’m getting anxious!! Argh, i hope i get everything in time because I can’t wait!!

@Thawowtso I can’t wait to see pictures, I saw some on one of my friend’s facebook but I want to see more haha Also what should we carry for clothes? It seems most were wearing jackets and warm clothing. Is it chilly there right now? What did you guys do? :D

@24thnkima Yeah, when we were there it was rainy and cold! although I saw photos from the other groups trip who came a few days before us, and it wasn’t nearly as wet then. I would say carry a coat with you regardless, but since you are going a little later then I would guess it would be warmer too. I was fine with the one coat I brought, and you can buy umbrellas cheaply if you need. (but if i remember correctly, I think there were umbrellas provided in the hotel rooms- Shanghai has a sort of rainy season)

Hey guys, I have just been admitted via email to NYU Shanghai RD, but did not receive any information about any trips to Shanghai to visit, which I would really find necessary in order to help me make my decision. Is anyone who was invited from the RD group?

@keha123 I’m sorry if you wont be able to visit, but I still think that you should give NYUSH a chance! It is such an amazing opportunity, and you can still get a feel for what life would be like having never visited.

Here is a link to some of the photos from my trip, unfortunately some of the other students who are much better photographers than me took all the photos, and I can’t get the link to other people’s albums from Facebook, so I guess there will just be mine :(

*****The link will work even if you don’t have a facebook

— and the most important photos are on the bottom two rows of that album. If you look at the very last photo at the red building that is the apartment that NYUSH will be renovating for use in 2014, and the first photo in the second to last row is the shell of the new academic center for NYUSH (if you look closely, you can see the Pearl Oriental Tower coming up just above it- its about a mile or so away!) Lastly, if you look at the statue of Mao, the building behind it is the building on ECNU’s campus that is being renovated for exclusively NYUSHs use.

I’m sorry that I don’t have better pictures, I can download some of the other students on Facebook, but I don’t know a website where I can post them to make them available to ya’ll. If anyone knows any way to allow me to do this, please let me know! :D

So if I haven’t heard anything, should I assume I haven’t been accepted?? The person who interviewed me asked if I was coming to some sort of welcome event but I haven’t been told an acceptance decision either way thus far.

EDIT: Turns out I have been accepted… And it sent to my out of use email so I misse RSVPing. Extremely sad right now, as this is the only time anything important has sent to that email.

@nyuclassof2017 Yeah I kinda mentioned it in the post above, where NYUSH will be located is in the heart of Pudong, right off central ave. It is about a mile away from the Pearl Oriental Tower. However, ECNU (where students will stay during the 2013-2014 school year) is in Putuo area of Shanghai.

Like bonzo, I’ve not received any confirmation emails from NYUSH about acceptance/rejection, but I’ve received one from NYU. If we don’t receive anything from NYUSH in the email, does that mean we were rejected? I passed on the interview, but I don’t really think that was too determinant of our acceptance (I checked the results thread for NYUSH and there were a few people who didn’t have an interview and were accepted). I’ve also checked on Albert and the materials for NYUSH were still there; of course I wasn’t expecting news on it since confirmation is only sent through emails. :/

Hey to people who already accepted the admissions decision: 1) did you have to pay the $500 confirmnation fee?
2) did you pay the housing desposit or did they send you any more info after you accepted the offer online?

@hermaion I’m not exactly sure how it works, and it might just be because I applied EDI, but I only heard back from NYUSH not from NYUNY to which I also applied. So it depends on which you listed as your first choice school- if you only heard back from the school you listed second, then I guess (?) it means you were rejected from the one you listed first.

@vintagerosery I actually didn’t even think about deposits, I only accepted the admissions offer on the NYU Albert account. I didn’t receive any emails about deposits- did you come to find out about the 500 dollar confirmation fee?
