NYU Shanghai

@missalex
i checked my email as well. fail.
i am just dying out of curiosity. >_>

i registered for the Shanghai trip. haven’t heard back, still :X
anyone else did?

I just looked and it seems missalex registered for the NYC trip.

So maybe the Shanghai trip people haven’t heard back yet? Let’s hope. :3

Yup, NYC trip. Sorry for not mentioning.
The letter seemed like a mailing. Hope the Shanghai trip gets back to you guys as quick as the NYC one did!

Hello, in regards to the trip to Shanghai April 5-8 I got a hold of the people organizing it. You have to get your own visa (nyu must send you a letter that you will need in order to get a visa), also you do not need to book the flight yourself. The guy (Dylan thurston) is in charge of the flight info/scheduling he is in China right now and won’t be back until the 27th, so that’s why most of us haven’t received info about our trip or at least flight details. We will be leaving the usa or wherever you are from on the 5th then departing shanghai on the 8th to return home. Also I would recommend sending an email to nyush representative ( you can email lucia pierce) if you were invited on the trip and haven’t been sent anything yet. I was invited (I’m an edII app) and hadn’t heard back from them after about a week, and as it turned out they did not have my name on their list! I am on their list now and so far I filled out the forms that they emailed me and I am in the process of getting my visa. Hope this helps! Fear not if you haven’t heard anything yet call them or email them. I’m excited to meet you guys in Shanghai :)

I’m leaving right now for my trip!!! I am so excited, but not looking forward to the 15 hour flight :/

For people who have been accepted, Congratulations!! And… did your’s FA status change before you receive the email?

I finally heard back for the NYC trip as well! For the people that are going (either shanghai or nyc), are you going by yourself or with your parents? Trying to decide if my mom should tag along…

@pyrasical Youre from Texas? So am I! I’m North of Dallas :slight_smile: Congrats on your trip- I’m going to Shanghai, but no my parents arent coming with me.

YAY, thanks for this! I emailed them and my regional counselor said, they’d get the guy in charge of the process to contact me! :)

Have fun and don’t forget to tell us all about it. Pictures too! :D

HEY ALL. so i got an email from NYU Shanghai about the visa process. infact, all the people i know who are attending the shanghai trip have got the details and stuff.
the flight and accommodation details shall be mailed to us soon. the letter of arrival says 4-8th of April as the dates of stay. so.
check you emails. i am positive you’ll be receiving it asap, possibly in the next 2 days.

@pyrasical
Facing the same question myself! I don’t think they’re covering costs for anyone but yourself though, so that’s definitely a factor for us. I think my dad might want to go though, regardless.

@thawowtso That’s awesome, I’m from Dallas too!! Maybe we’ve run into each other before and we never knew it :stuck_out_tongue:
and @missalex yeah, for me it depends on what we’ll be doing in NY. I don’t know if we’ll be staying at NYU the entire time or if we’ll have time to check the city out (which I hope we will), in which case my mom would want to come with me lol

so quick questions:
your parents are joining you at the candidate weekend at NYU-Shanghai?

one of my parents might come…like they have a few miles on their card so they can get a pretty good discount on the tickets so they’re considering it. Are yours?

Looks like I won’t be able to go to either event after all! I’ll be in another country during the Shanghai dates and due to some unforeseen financial issues the parents can’t come along to NY. : ( Really bummed out, but I understand that it’s a bit of a stretch to let an admittedly forgetful teenager run loose! Hope everyone else’s trips work out, please post a lot of pictures and updates : D

my parents may. i asked them not to? but well, parents are parents! :P

A couple questions:

Has anyone gotten the sponsor letter to obtain their visa yet? I haven’t, and I’m worried because my dad and I plan to leave this Thursday for the Chinese consulate in Houston to get my visa. Obviously if I don’t have the sponsor letter I can’t get my visa, right?

Has anyone already been to one of the Shanghai events? What did you do there? I just want to know what to expect.

Hi! I’m new, but I joined so that I could post here. I am a student from Maryland that got accepted, and for those asking about visas and whatnots, I received my letter a week ago along with the form, and I got my flight itinerary today! Anyone have a layover in Detroit? :)

@schaycshloss

We are responsible for going to a Chinese consulate to get out visa, right? They just give us the sponsor letter?
