NYU Shanghai

Actually, they will probably get a company to get your Visa for you- which makes it even more expensive, but keeps them from having to physically wait at the consulate/embassy. At least this is what they did for the EDII guy living in my area (Texas).

They’ll get us tourist visa’s, right?

Did any one get anymore information on the Shanghai visit other than what was on the RSVP page?

Alright, in terms of getting into both NYUNY/NYUSH.

My FA thing has recently changed to this: http://i46.■■■■■■■.com/2e1x2e1.png

Now, I’ve been accepted to NYUSH, and with this change came the change that my NYUNY was (finally) added to my portal. It basically came on the same day.

So, I think this may mean that it’s both a NYUNY and NYUSH acceptance. Just a guess though, as I haven’t seen this from anyone else and it’s kinda weird lol.

Also: I have the stats (I think) that I can get into NYUNY, if that helps. I know a lot of people have been wondering about this.

Whoa, that’s really something. But it’s weird how they have different years though? Most people got accepted with only 2014 in it. Nevertheless I still wish the best for you! It’d be awesome to get into both NYUNY and NYUSH.

My FA changed from “2014 no financial aid data available” to “2014 award access not available” the day I didn’t get an email from NYUSH. I’m seriously hoping this means NYUNY and not because I got rejected to both lol.

Hey everyone, I got admitted the other day to NYUSH. I’m Natalie, I’m from MA although I’m studying abroad in Spain right now. I’m not sure if I’m going to go although I would really like to, my parents are freaking out, and my mom thinks it’s “not the real NYU” she’s crazy… annyway, if anybody’s down to chat hit me up. kewl thanks.

Actually I do have a question, do you think it’s possible to receive aid for one and not the other? because the aid they gave me made NYUSH the same amount as regular tuition at NY and I really also want to get into the ny campus. What’re your thoughts on that?

Hey Natalie! You should definitely tell your mom that when you graduate from NYUSH you will be graduating with the same NYU degree that is handed out at NYUNY. That was one of my parents concerns as well, however your degree will not be devalued at NYUSH, and it offers you the same classes and opportunities that any other campus would

And the aid can differ from university to university, typically NYUAD offers the most extensive financial aid, they give allowances and pay for plane tickets, etc. NYUSH has not grown to that extent, but they are giving out more aid than NYUNY to students who need it. Since you are from the US, they will probably only give you the amount that the FAFSA says that you need. I have noticed that more of the international students have been getting the most aid, because salaries are so different in different countries. The 50K a year tuition is pretty steep in the US (but expected from a private university), however asking international students to pay 50K is just ridiculous- so they are meeting the need of these students first.

Its really cool you’re studying in Spain- since going to NYU (both NYUNY and NYUSH) requires you to spend at least a semester abroad, I would love to do my study away in NYU location in Madrid xD But I’m from Texas and was admitted EDI (so my parents, who didn’t think I would be accepted, couldn’t really complain) so if you have questions feel free to hit me up.

Actually, you get three degrees from NYUSH: “A degree conferred by NYU, a degree accredited by China’s Ministry of Education, and a certificate of graduation conferred by NYU Shanghai.”

(Directly from the FAQs on the NYUSH website)

Oh god thanks ahah, it’s really good to know that I may still get into the primary school just not get aid there. Phew load off my shoulders. Anyway, you definitely should do it, Madrid is one of my favorite cities in Spain. I’ve been living here this year with a private school, and if you’re out of high school, (and a really restrictive program) Spanish night life is a lot of fun! It’s definitely worth it, although I don’t think I’d do longer than a semester because it can be kind of boring, but then again, I live in Zaragoza which isn’t exactly activities capital of the world so.

I already have a tourist visa valid till next summer. So, should I notify them about that?

i wonder how i missed this thread. i had been looking for it since weeks.
another accepted guy here.
but sadly, i have yet not got any details from the NYU-Sh office about visa stuff till yet.
i have been so so so impatient!!!

tourist visa to the US, btw.

@princeton2017 I doubt a Visa to the US would do you any good… but I suppose it doesnt hurt to tell them.

um i meant for the visit to NY…

@Princeton2017 Oh, wait thats weird, are they flying you out to New York? Or are you vising on your own?

yeah, you have a choice between a weekend to New york or Shanghai.

I had no idea, I guess since I was ED to NYUSH they didn’t bother with us haha

Hey everyone, NYU got back to me about the trip! Definitely check your emails, looks like there’s another quick survey to fill out before they start arranging things.

@Missalex

For the Shanghai or NYC trip? And was your email addressed specifically to you or did it sound more like a large group of people?

I filled out the survey for the Shanghai trip a while back and still haven’t heard back… :(.
