by “few,” u mean under a thousand? or five hundred? two hundred?

It’s hard to say - I think in the hundreds though. My interviewer interviewed…I think around 80 (maybe more, maybe slightly less) students, and there were about 5-7 interviewers. So yeah.

@marinozai hi! Chanel interviewed me
it was 30 mins
She was nice and friendly and she said ‘great’ a lot not sure if that’s a good sign cos i heard someone had a great interview last year but was waitlisted
Oh and I wanna go to Shanghai becos it’s my alternative choice? lol i didn’t have any particular reason but I’m actually very excited to go there :)

wow there are like more than 3 interviewers right? I guess it gets more competitive day every year

Yeah, it seems pretty competitive, especially since I don’t think they are going to take many kids from early decision.

Did you say in your interview that it was your alternative choice? Like what reasons did you give in the interview for wanting to go to Shanghai?

And did she shed any light on the admissions process? Some people’s interviewers did.

ed: Oh and who last year had a good interview and was waitlisted?

Why would they not want to take as many kids from early decision as regular decision? I believe you but that doesn’t make sense to me

I don’t know - I’m wondering the same thing.

Where did you hear that they’re taking less kids?

Last year they only took about 14 kids ED, and this year they aren’t going to change things up that much.

Do you know how many kids applied ED last year?

Nope - just how many kids were accepted.

marinozai. do u know if one of the ED accepted were chinese? i think my chance is twice lower than non-chinese ED ppl…

No, I don’t. All I know is which countries they were from - about 4 were from the United States.

I get you though - I’m Chinese and from the US. I’m only sort of Chinese…well kind of. I was adopted from China when I was younger, so I’ve been raised American.

Only 4 from America? That’s so few!

i wish they didnt look at our color and just take whomever is shiny. i know they want diversity and creativity. i can bring it to shanghai! btw do they take more girls than boys??..
and they take the rest of 135 students from the RD pool??

Last year, that is what happened. I don’t know for sure how they are doing it this year.

anyone know how many ppl in u.s. applied and were interviewed?

No, again, no one has any information.

nope she didn’t ask me about my choices… she interviewed me as if Shanghai was my first choice
and she didn’t shed any light on admission process. It really was a casual conversation with topics revolving around my plans at NYUSH :)

Oh last year they admitted 16 ED students but i think it would have been pretty difficult to get 16 outta hundreds of applicants so maybe that’s because there was less people applying for ED?

Again, it’s hard to say how many people applied last year. What makes it harder is that you don’t know how many people listed Shanghai as their first choice/second choice, and how many of those people got in.
