I agree that living in China will be a HUGE adjustment, but opportunities like this one don’t come too often. As cheesy as this sounds, I’m so ready to go on this adventure, because I know it will teach me so much, not only about the world, but about myself.

What you said about the financial aid is great news! I’d hate to miss out on the experience for financial reasons, so it’s great to know they’re being generous.

Congrats on being admitted, hopefully I’ll be joining you in Shanghai!

@cheetle After that response, I don’t doubt that you would do great at NYUSH I think that in order to make it work, you will have to really be open to the experience of it all, and you sound like this is something that you’ve thought about and truly want,

Mine weren’t, but you can check the names of who will be interviewing for your area on NYUSH’s website which might give you a hint if they’re Chinese or not.

I would post the link, but I’m searching for it again and can’t exactly fine it… ill repost if it magically appears xD

@thawowtso, thanks so much for your responses! To all queries!! It helps us who are still tryna make the decision!! After the initial hype of getting in, my family started to get wary and all so i’ll not know till this week if I can go or not!

@cheetle like @thawaowtso said, i think your chances are real good you know!! You’ve got good grades and your racial demographic makes you stand out too! ANd yes, in the interim, t’ll most likely go down to whether you will give out the other schools you end up getting in RD!! Still tho, there’s a bit of uncertainty in the RD pool cause no one knows how many you are and all. Otw, BEST of Luck everyone!! :)

It took me a lot of time to read every single post in this thread, but I finally did it!

First of all, I want to congratulate the ones that have been admitted to NYUSh! :)

Second, I am NERVOUS. I just scheduled my interview for the next Tuesday!!!

I applied to NYUSH because I have always been interested in learning Chinese and I found NYUSH pretty amazing!

I am from Ecuador (Latin-American). And these are my tests scores:
TOEFL 106 (29 R 29 W 22 S 26 L)
ACT 28 (English 26 Math 33 Science 30 Reading 21 Writing 7 Combined 24) (I know my act scores are not brilliant, but since English is not my mother tongue I had a rough time in this test)
SAT BIO E 750 and SAT MATH 730

GPA: I guess that it’d be 4.0

And I took the ENES (which is an Ecuadorian university entry exam), I was among the best scorers, and because of that, Ecuador offered to pay my undergraduate studies (So I guess that may be a merit)

ECs: Tons! Leadership activities, volunteer in a military hospital, and more.

I didn’t think I could get an interview, but I did it. However, I am just starting to feel nervous because I wasn’t aware of how difficult it was to get one. In addition, I haven’t heard of any other international student from Latin America who has got admitted to NYUSH :S

Its impressive you read every post on here! haha XD

Unfortunately, I only know the demographics from the EDI pool, and from EDI there is a male student from Mexico admitted, and a female from Peru (they didn’t tell us their stats). None from Ecuador!

Your stats are good! I wish I had a better idea about what qualifies a person for admittance, but I would take your interview as a sign that your stats were good enough If I could take a guess, I think that they are offering interviews to students who were qualified, then if the the interview goes well choosing from those people. I just haven’t heard back from a person who was interviewed then denied admission.
In the interview they really want to know that you want to go to NYUSH and that you believe in their mission, so as long as you’re up to date about what the school is then you will be fine!

Good Luck! I’d say you have a pretty good chance (but that really means nothing coming from me, or anyone really. I don’t think anyone has a clue about what the stats will end up looking like)

For those who have had their interview through skype, did you start the call or did they? I actually have not really used skype before so I’m not too sure how this works. :3

haha, I didn’t have a Skype account either so I was in the same boat with you. What happened for me was I made an account, told them my information (like username and stuff) and just logged on at the time we were supposed to begin the interview. I think you have to add them as a contact on sykpe before you can talk to each other, so once that time rolled around I got a message from them over Skype asking to be added as a contact, which I accepted. Then they initiated the call.
Good luck! If you have any issues just email them or something, they’ll do their best to accommodate you. Skype interviews are always awkward lol

e.e You know what! At first, I just applied to NYUSH to make sure I’d get admitted to any NYU campus, but after reading all your comments I am kinda excited about the fact I could have the chance to go to Shanghai!
I hope I can meet you :)

lol it was only a matter of time until we started getting questions on here about the FA award changing xD

I wish I could dispel the rumors, but they seem to be true. My Financial Aid changed to “Award Access not Found” or whatever before I was accepted, so it probably holds true for the Shanghai campus as well that if your FA changes you will be accepted As for the RD students, I don’t think anyones have changed yet- I bet college confidential threads will be blowing up with comments the moment anyones FA changes, so keep an eye out on other threads.

You said 2% in a earlier post, and I was bored so I was just browsing around. Not that it makes a difference but anyway :P

NYUAD received a record number of applications in 2012, with 15,489 applicants vying for about 150 places. Given an acceptance rate of just 0.9 percent, NYUAD’s undergraduate program may well rank as the most competitive in the world.

I just had my interview! I don’t know if it went well! :S
I was nervous and I couldn’t say very clearly some words! T_T

I asked my interviewer about which applicants get the interviews… and she told me that everyone… and later she told me that she was just given a list with 25 applicants to interview and that she doesn’t know e.e
:(

You are completely right! I don’t know where I got the 2%, NYUAD definitely has a .9 percent acceptance rate. Thanks for correcting that :)

@oahm95

My interviewer from the EDI interviews told me that only competitive candidates were being interviewed, but its looks like from what your interviewer said that no one really knows! haha, I think everyone is wondering what the inaugural class stats will be like.

I wouldn’t take that as bad news, I highly doubt they are interviewing everyone (because some people have already posted here saying they weren’t offered an interview, just flat denied), and even if they were I don’t think that would mean you’re any less likely to be accepted!

so i just got off my interview, not sure if it went well but my interviewer told me that he had an “wonderful conversation” with me. hope he meant it and not just out of kindness or anything! hahaha, well i’ll keep you guys posted on whether i get accepted/not :)

oh and my interviewer told me that they don’t interview all applicants. he’s not sure and all, but he’s pretty positive that NYU wouldn’t want to interview ALL applicants. so, yeah, i guess we can assume that the people interviewed are ‘shortlisted’

Hi! I 'm glad you have a good interview! As long as there wasn 't
any awkward silence… then it would be ok!
Lol I hope we all get admitted to NYUSHANGHAI
