NYU Short-Answers (Supplement): Length Required?

How long of a short answer response is NYU looking for with each of these questions?

“In addition to any work experience that you listed on your application, please tell us how you spent your most recent summer vacation.”

“If you had the opportunity to
spend one day in New York City
with a famous New Yorker, who
would it be and what would you
do? (Your New Yorker can be
anyone—past or present, fictional
or nonfictional—who is commonly
associated with New York City;
they do not necessarily have to
have been born and raised in
New York.)”

In the year 2050, a movie
is being made of your life.
Please tell us the name of
your movie and briefly
summarize the story line.

Etc. You get the idea of it, but how long should I make my responses? 1-2 paragraphs each? A page each…?

1-2 paragraphs max. i think it has a 250 CHARACTER limit

It will lock you out if you do more than the character count they require.

Yes, there’s a character limit…I had to cut all my of answers down to like one short paragraph. You need to be able to say what you want succinctly because they don’t give you a lot of space to do it. Good luck!

WAIT! All of the short answer are out already???

There’s a character limit… it’s actually one thing I really really liked about the NYU supplement, it didn’t require an additional like 3 essays on your life story/etc.

how can i find out the exavt length of the answers? i have the same problem and don’t know exactly how much i can write… :(

It is exactly 500 CHARACTERS not words. It says directly on the common app ;P

Yes, I thought it was 500 characters but now Embark says under 600 characters? Is there a reason for this?

^Really?!?!

It’s 500 characters exactly. You won’t be able to submit your supplement if it’s even 1 character ever.

P.S. spaces count as 1 character.

Yeah 500 characters with spaces if you’re using Commonapp, and 600 if you’re using Embark (for some weird reason?).
Basically a paragraph, it’s kind of hard to sum up all you want to say but oh well.

it is a tough time limit.

how short is TOO short of an answer? Cause i wanted to simply just ANSWER mine. lol. especially where they just ask yu to LIST what books yu’ve read, etc.
