<p>I was thinking of applying to Steinhardt for their “string studies program”. I started playing the violin at 2 years old, but quit for a couple years from 6th grade to around 8th or 9th grade. To give an example of what level I’m at musically, I’ve played in Carnegie hall twice and have taught lessons at a music school since i was 14. I am also the president of my school’s orchestra. I love NYU because of its location, but I don’t know how competitive or good their music department is. I also am unsure about my chances. I’m an IB diploma candidate but my grades are mediocre-mostly B’s and C’s. However, i’ve heard the audition is what it really comes down to. So anyway, I just need student opinions on the school and its music department :)</p>
