NYU Stern Classes

I’m heading to Stern next year as a freshmen and I wanted to get a head start this summer.

I read from another thread that I need to read books like On Liberty and Confession. Are there any other books that can get my hands on during this summer?

Thanks!

i have never heard of that book, but from the sounds of it i have no idea how it can help you at stern. your first year you will be taking liberal arts classes anyways, and they are not so hard that you should be doing the reading over the summer. and as for the stern classes, the best thing you can do is to just read the wall street journal to just familiarize yourself with some basic finance lingo, especially since several students enter stern having no idea what finance really is.

You can probably read “several” as “many” :P

I mean, “On Liberty” can’t hurt, since it IS an important philosophical work and not particularly long, but I don’t see how it would directly relate to business aside from maybe the ethics class senior year. You could read “Monkey Business” if you’re curious to see what investment banking is like. If you can get a hold of your books list for any of your MAP classes ahead of time, it could be worth it to skim some of those.
