Where else was I accepted: University of Chicago, Michigan Honors Program

Objective Stats:

NYU Stern 2018!
GPA: School does not report GPA (sends transcripts) / Estimate is 94/100
SATI: 2280 (710R, 800M, 770W [12 essay])
AP [Taken]: 5/4/5 (APUSH, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics)
Rank: N/A
Type of School: Very prestigious school in New York (not stuy lol!)

Senior Year Courses: AP Psychology, AP Computer Sci, AP AB Calc, + 3 other classes. Every class I have taken in high school is classified as an honors class.

My school essentially limits us to (at most 2) AP courses during junior year, and 3-4 during senior year. Recommendation is to not take all AP courses available since many of our classes are taught beyond the AP level and since collegeboard does not review our curriculum we cannot call our classes “AP”.

ECs:

1) 4 yrs Swim team (captain)
2) Club swimming (since I was 5) city/state level swimmer
3) 100 hrs volunteer service @ a hospital
4) Working at a pharmacy in the summer (9/10/11th grade) 25 hrs a week
5) Helping out w/ family real-estate business - estimated 10 hrs a week around 4-5 months a yr
6) Internship at a financial services company in NYC (11th grade summer)
7) Powerlifting (wrote my essay on this, very important to me) (9/10/11/12) 10 hrs a week
8) Manager for Girls Swimming (1 season, 100 hrs total)
9) Member of Economics club, 2 years.

ESSAYS:

Common App / NYU Supp: Excellent (?) I hate rating my own essays lol
Teacher Recs: Excellent (always had positive feedback from them)
Counselor Rec: Excellent (talked to her a lot)

Other:

Race: Asian
FA: No
Income: Enough
Legacy: No
Awards: AP Scholar | National Merit Finalist

Reflection:

Strengths: GPA was pretty good along w/ standardized tests. ECs good and essay. Tried to show a lot of “demonstrated interest”, not sure if that is significant

Weaknesses: I did not submit any SATII’s and not that much ECs related to business

Accepted because: Stats are above average I guess? (but still mediocre compared to the people above me :frowning: )

See you guys next year! Very excited.

See you soon dude!

Bump
