NYU Summer School

Well, I’m a student at Georgetown, but I’ve decided that I’m taking Gen Physics I and II at NYU Summer School this summer. I’m from Long Island, and i LOVE NYC, and NYU is an awesome school in an awesome city of course. I’ll be commuting on the subway, b/c it really doesn’t make sense to add to the $8000+ i’m paying for the 10 credits of Physics.

Anyway, I’m really excited about being an NYU student starting soon, and would like to know if there’s anything I should see while I’m there during the week. My mom has seen some of the buildings before, and she said they’re really beautiful. I’ve seen pics of the Stern building and it’s hands down the best modern building on a college campus I’ve seen in a while, MUCH better than any of the “modern” buildings here at Georgetown.

Has anyone ever attended the Summer School? How is it? Since NYU doesn’t have a traditional campus, where do students go to relax? How’s the library? Any lounges, etc around the school? How’s the food? I noticed that there’s a good amount of choices(much more than at Georgetown where we have 3 cafes, two dining halls and one nasty-a$$ food court(though it’s being changed w/ REAL vendors, lol)). I probably won’t get a meal plan, but would love to stop by a cafe or food court, etc. when I feel like it. Could any current students provide any descriptions of the food attractions, social areas, etc.? Basically things I can show off to friends from home and Georgetown when they come to visit. What about that new student union building(I think it’s called Kimmel or something)? What’s in there, how is it, should I go in there?

Any comments, help, etc. on summer life at NYU would be appreciated. Thanks!

bump. Any general comments on anything related to NYU summer life/commuter life/etc. would be welcome.

I was in the NYU summer program last summer…intro to computers and programming…it was pretty cool…library is nice…u should also go check out the gymnasium (decent basketball courts if you care)…there are a lot of pizzerias nearby…I always ate at the food court across the street from Warren Weaver Hall (thats where my class was)
