Feel free to share any thoughts on any particular programs or how you might explore those interests at NYU on any of our campuses. "</p>

<p>Since I need to talk about my academic interests AND it would probably be a good idea to talk about where they originated from in the first place, could I address this prompt as if I was addressing the following:</p>

<p>“Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.”</p>

<p>I would place more emphasis on academic interests and tone down the describing part, and then connect that briefly to dreams and aspirations.</p>

<p>I feel like the “describe the world you came from…” question is more like an intro to the more specific question that the prompt is asking. Maybe talk briefly about what your interests are and how - maybe 1/4 of the essay? and then talk about how you would take full advantage of the resources at NYU for the rest of the essay, which should be the main point. I’m pretty sure they want to know more about how you will really use what is given to you and that you actually have a reason for coming to NYU as opposed to any other school.</p>
