I sent a DM to NYU admissions Twitter and got this answer:
Hi! Unfortunately we aren’t able to estimate exactly when or how much waitlist activity will take place, as it varies greatly from year to year. It will be occuring on a rolling basis from now until the end of the summer, and it’s entirely dependent on whether or not admitted students decide to un-enroll AND if the Drama department opens those spots up to waitlisted students.
