Nyu vs. Ucla

Which is harder to get into as an undeclared female with a 3.5 unweighted from California.

We need more info like your UC gpa (no freshman), test scores, and ecs

UC GPA (projected by course load and pure honesty): 3.2
ACTw/writing: 28
EC:
robotics…secretary…4 yrs
red cross club… co.president…4
science team…co president…3
science journal… editor…3
interact club… media head…3
volunteering at local hospital…2
volunteering at grief center as teen counsellor…2
***possibly acadeca starting my junior yr

Need like 31+ on act or atleast 2000 on SAT plus that GPA for UCLA is a bit low… Maybe try UCSD? 3.5 plus 2000 is around 50% is think for NYU so it is still a reach. Get that GPA up and SAT/ACT up!

http://www.pvphs.com/pdf/CollegeAcceptance.pdf</a> has some scatterplots of student applications and admissions to various popular colleges from that high school (go to the very end for the scatterplots), including NYU and UCLA.

It looks like NYU is a lot easier to get into than UCLA is, although both schools are divided into divisions where admission thresholds may vary. (Note that the GPAs used in the scatterplots are the high school’s weighted GPA, so they may not be directly comparable to your GPA.)

Remember that NYU has a reputation for poor financial aid, and UCLA financial aid will be $23,000 short of meeting need if you are not a California resident. Check the net price calculators.

NYU is way over priced, you pay almost 4x as much
