NYU vs. UCSD for Mass Media & Communication.

NYU cost: $48,000
UCSD cost: $40,000 (out of state)

**NYU Pros: **

 • Great internship opportunities for a communication major (CNN, MTV, etc)
 • Great business school (I plan to some basic courses in Stern)
 • Very urbanized and culturally diverse
 • Decent social life in the city
 • Only 6 hours driving distance from home

Cons:

 • East Coast weather
 • High level of stress of living in NY

UCSD Pros:

 • I’m in love with the so cal atmosphere!
 • Fantastic weather
 • Nicer/more relaxed people
 • Secluded enough for me to concentrate on my studies
 • Close enough to LA/Mexico to have fun

UCSD Cons:

 • Not strong of a communication school as NYU?
 • Not as academically prestigious of a school as NYU?
 • Not known for business
 • Not many opportunities for internships

Please give me suggestions and feel free to disagree with me!
Financial differences is not too big of an issue…

Please do tell me more about UCSD

Thank you!

I believe you answered your own question already - NYU easily.

Considering you’re paying OOS tuition to go to UCSD, and NYU is more prestigious regarding journalism/arts/social studies, what is $8,000 going to matter?

Plus, NYU social life/college experience will be more rewarding and fun - you’re in New York City for crying out loud. :)
