Can’t wait forever for NYU. I guess at this point it’s game over for him. My son just accepted his fate and will go to CSUF for now and he’ll just try to transfer on his second year, but most likely not NYU. He said he’d rather go to a school that likes him instead of making him as an option. Good luck everyone. I know you will all do great wherever you go.

im waitlisted at tisch for recorded music at clive davis. do they send an email if you dont get off the waitlist?
Pretty sure they send out an email in August saying they ran out of spots. There’s no rejection

I emailed the admissions office with a email that was basically thanks for waitlisting me, I’m still interested and this was the response:
We understand that a waitlist offer is often met with mixed emotions and questions about next steps. Please know that we have given your application full consideration for all applicable programs at NYU and that your waitlist offer extends to all schools and global campuses of the university.
Please see our FAQ for comprehensive information about the waitlist. A few items to note:
- You may submit the NYU First Year Waitlist Form (the link to this form is provided on your Applicant Portal) form as many times as you like, as new updates become available. This form will give you the opportunity to select all schools and programs within NYU that are of interest to you.
- NYU’s waitlist is not ranked. Should we extend offers of admission to students on the waitlist, we will re-evaluate all candidates who responded to our waitlist offer.
- Please refrain from submitting supplementary materials or additional information to NYU, aside from the Waitlist Response Form.
- We strongly recommend that you move forward with confirming your enrollment at another institution for the Fall semester. In past years, the number of students admitted from the waitlist has varied significantly, which is why we are unable to determine your likelihood of being offered admission to NYU from the First Year Waitlist Form.
- Students offered admission from the waitlist may still be considered for need- and merit-based financial aid, provided they have completed our required financial aid forms online by the appropriate deadlines.

I’ve done some research over the past 3 applicant years and historically on June 1st waitlisted students usually get an email saying the waitlist is full (not guaranteed but most likely)

I’m going to be the voice of hope and disagree that June 1st is when admits off the waitlist will shut down. You cannot underestimate how much of a mess that FASFA delays have caused. This year is like no other. Kids have not received their FAFSA amounts and have been asking for extensions to decide. Schools are granting them. All of that just slows the wait list process down. I’m not saying that everyone here will get off the waitlist. I’m just saying that the process of continuing to admit students is far from over.

Not trying to discourage you guys but objectively that’s what has happened in the past around this time. Due to Fafsa delays this year and everything it is pretty unpredictable. But dw sometimes when they announce the class size is full they tend to pluck a few people off during the summer time
