Damn so I guess we don’t get to know today
Did all of your guys admission decision disappear or just the ones who got the interest letter ?
what do you guys think about the spring admission program?? i havent been admitted or anything but it is sort of a weird idea, idk
My admission officer just told me that they still consider me even though I just submitted my response form today. I received my email on Tuesday, do you guys think I still have a chace to have my admission letter on Monday with everyone else? If not, is there another around?
@tischhhhhbishhhh a lot of colleges offer a spring admission program as it allows them to admit more qualified students than they would otherwise be able to. This is because people will drop out, transfer, or study abroad allowing for space for new students. I personally have no strong opinion on the program, but I can see how it does suck for people who desperately want to go to NYU (or whatever school offered them spring admission) and feel like they have to put their lives on hold to do it. But for some people a spring start is better as it allows them some more time to save money, figure out their interests, travel, volunteer, or whatever they may be interested in doing.
@getaclucy ahh yeah i see what you mean, i guess it depends on each persons personal situation… but it seems like its a good way to let more people in from the waitlist so thats good, ive really been hoping for the best for everyone on this thread
@nav230 i did not get an interest letter and my admissions decision tab is still available and on waitlist
Oh okay so I guess if you got an interest letter your tab should go away
925???
Wait so are they saying that they gonna be sending more interest emails on the 22nd? Or is that the final official admission for people who got the intrest emails 2 days ago?
Based on people losing their tab after they got their interest letter, the people who got the interest letter probably will first get accepted and then another round of interest letters will be released based on how many spots are left.
Ahhh that post literally broke my heart
I really doubt that there’s gonna be any more admissions after that, since they’ve admitted 925 students to fill the 325 spots they had.
I guess it just didn’t work out for me
I don’t think you should lose hope. It really depends on how many of those 925 actually say yes to the offer.
But I never got an interest email
Furthermore, they just need about 35% of the admitted students to say yes, then the spots will be completely filled
@AhMesAmis Don’t worry about interest emails. I never got one, and I was accepted into the Liberal Studies Program from the waitlist. Just be patient and good luck to your future endeavors!
@tischhhhhbishhhh I was admitted under Spring admissions. At first, I was kinda upset that they wouldn’t allow me to go to school til the spring, but I realized I could be using this time to get a job and cherish these final moments I have with family and friends before I move to New York! I think Spring admission is a great idea and allows NYU to admit even more talented students to their institution!
@jh1868 @Vesttt this is what my letter looks like:
On behalf of the admissions committee, it is my honor and privilege to share with you that you have been admitted to the Core Program in Liberal Studies at New York University.
Albert Gallatin, Treasury Secretary to U.S. Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, founded NYU in 1831. NYU has since grown to become the largest independent research university in America. I now have the pleasure of welcoming you to one of the most influential universities in the world. Congratulations!
We considered you for each of our campuses and global academic centers for which you expressed interest in your application, and we are offering you admission with the expectation you begin your studies at our Washington Square campus starting in Spring (January) 2018.
Spring Admissions is a way to accommodate an additional small number of academically talented students who would not be able to attend NYU beginning in the fall due to space constraints. This is an accelerated program that will allow students to graduate in May 2021, the same graduation date as students who enter in Fall 2017.
Our Core Program is a rigorous curriculum that is truly interdisciplinary, embracing literature, history, philosophy, art, architecture, and music. Faculty attention and small classes (typically fewer than 25) are its hallmarks. While completing the Core Program, students take courses in the other schools and colleges at NYU. Upon completing the Core Program, students have the option to either continue in LS with the Global Liberal Studies B.A. degree; seamlessly transition into any of the liberal arts majors in the College of Arts and Science or other NYU schools; or apply for admission to any other program in the University.
What’s Next?
Visit the Spring Admissions website for more information and answers to frequently asked questions.
Visit our website for critical instructions on how to view your financial aid estimate (if applicable) and confirm your enrollment within 72 hours of receipt of your email.
Keep performing. Your admission is contingent on the successful completion of your existing academic program at a performance level comparable to the one presented in your application.
If you choose to enroll at NYU, we expect that you will withdraw your acceptance at the institution where you previously placed your deposit. You should email that institution’s admissions office to let them know that you will be attending NYU instead.
Heung, you should be extremely proud of your accomplishments, and I encourage you to celebrate with your family and friends who have supported you on your intellectual journey thus far. We look forward to welcoming you into the NYU community and meeting you soon.
Sincerely,
So did anyone else not have their admission tab available anymore ?
@whatyouflex
After seeing the amount you received, I think the LS Scholarship (or any school scholarship, for that matter) is most likely based on a combination of both merit and financial need. $35k solely in merit aid is pretty improbable for students admitted off the waitlist (NYU usually doesn’t give that much), since if they wanted you that badly they would’ve admitted you by April 1. Still - congrats on having only to pay 20k/year for NYU; that’s a great bargain for a great school.
@SomedayIwill yeah, I was very surprised of the scholarship. Thanks and good luck to you as well
I probably have no chance of getting off the waitlist, but I just love how much nyu actually provide information about this compared to other schools
